Mrs. Elma Doyle has just returned from a most en- joyable visit with family and friends at Simi, California. and also Vancouver. Also visiting with the Brooks family, an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. N.H. Parker of Ellershouse, N.S. If you know the where- abouts of Sam' Snooks, Harold and Marie would be very pleased to find out. Sam is their dog and just now is missing from home and greatly missed at that. The church congregation on Sunday listened to their lively choir number accom- panied by organist Mrs. B. Snelgrove. Two colorful baskets of floral arrangements were admired from the funeral of the late Mr. C. Graham. Rev. M. Reeves delivered an interesting message en- titled "How to ruin the church," Offering gatheréd by Mr. R. Deeth and Mr. F. Pere- man. The board of stewards met Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. H. Dearborn. Mr. and Mrs. M. Linton and family recently attended the fiftieth wedding anni- versary of his parents in Oshawa in the form of an "'At Home". Mrs. Mable Graham has returned home from near two weeks with her daughter and husband Mr. and M rs. H. Hargraves, Willowdale. Mrs. Ingram has always been an avid reader and will now have more time to pursue her favourite interest. pe Librarian retires after 30 years Circulation of hooks increased from 3,000 to 30,000 annually Mrs. E. Ingram has re- signed a, position as Head Librarian at the War Mem- orial Library after over 30 years of service to the village of Port Perry. Her resignation took effect Dec. 31, 1972. She accepted the position in June, 1941, after her husband died. Her shoes" have been filled by Mrs. Milne, the former Children's Librarian. Mrs. Ingram explained the library serves not only Port Perry but surrounding set- tlements including Nestle- ton, Blackstock, Caesarea, Manchester, and Seagrave. "The present building was construced in 1934," she noted. "When 1 was first installed, in 1941, the Library . lent about 5,000 books each year. Over the years, there has been a great increase in the number of books bor- rowed. Last year, about 30,000 books were taken out." She admitted her work as a librarian has been "quite a worthwhile venture. I had no experience .when I first applied. An initial interview was undertaken by Mrs. W.H. Harris.
