The Ontario Municipal Act stipulates that developers who subdivide land for housing projects, must give the municipality concerned 5 percent.of the land being sub divided. The municipality decides whether it wants its 5 percent in cash or new parkland. Port Perry council follows a policy of taking the: - parks, however at the Jan- uary 23 meeting of council Deputy Reeve Phil Orde wondered if the village should not also be insisting that developers plant trees in their sub divisions. "This-is-what-1-would like to see in the future is a tree in front of every house" Mr. Orde . said. The Deputy Reeve made his statement during a discussion with Mr. Jack Nottingham who intends to apply to enter into a sub division agreement with the village as soon as possible. Sub divisions are not possible at the moment because the village does not have sufficient water supply to service any more. A new well is planned by 1975. Wednesday last week was a great occasion for four Port Perry guides when they were presented with Canada Cords. The ceremony took place at the Scout Hall and was attended by other guides, mothers and friends. Making the presentations was District Commissioner Lorraine Quinton.
