A fine crowd attended the dance sponsored by the Group Committee of the Scouting Association and held in the Recreation Cen- tre on Saturday night The Annual Meeting of the Blackstock Agricultural Society met at the Township Hall on Thursday evening with an excellent atten- dance. President Merrill VanCamp presided for the business of the evening which consisted mainly of receiving reports from the various sections of the fair. All including the financial statement indicated that the 1972 Fair was indeed a fine success. Mrs. Muriel Wotten in her report as Lady Director indicated that the preliminary lists are all- ready compiled for this year's fair and anyone who wishes to receive one may contact the Secretary, Joyce Kelly. During the election of officers for 1973, the follow- ing were elected: Past president VanCamp; President Ver- non Asselstine; Ist Vice President John Wolters; Second Vice President Lawrence McLaughlin; Sec Treas Mrs. Gerald Kelly; Ladies' Director Pat Sleep; Merrill Assistant Ladies' Director Mae Shortridge. Merrill Van Camp ex- pressed his appreciation to all the directors for their hard work and fine co-oper- ation during his term of office. Mr. Walter Wright in- troduced Mr. Don Dewey of Whitby who showed out- - standing slides complete with a excellent commen- tary on his trip to Peking, China to the Trade Mission last August. Mr. John Wol- ters thanked Mr. Dewey for his fine contribution to the evening. The ladies served retresh- ments. Mr. and Mrs. Marwood McKee accompanied by Mrs. Fern Lawson of Nes- tleton visited Mrs. Bill Wan- nan of Orono on Friday. Ranger Alice Ann Carnaghan sang a solo '"'Morning is Broken" accompanied by Ranger Marie VanCamp who also played the organ for the Rangers who entertained the guests prior to the service. Mrs. Douglas Sleep, Dis- trict Commissioner was nar- rator for the program. A skit presented by Brownies and Guides was enjoyed by all present. Division Commissioner Joan Hayes was unable to be present so Canada Cords were presented and tied by Captain Shirley Wheeler and Lieutenant Tina Walters. The girls fathers presented their daughters with gifts. Brownies and guides presen- ted them with photos and Mrs. Neil Malcolm repre- senting the Local Associa- tion gave the girls each a - Canada Cord pin. Mrs. Erma Welts on behalf of the Mothers Auxiliary also made a presentation of a gift to each girl. Advancement from Guides to Rangers was another step for these Canada Cord Guides and they were re- ceived by Ranger President Marilyn . Duff; Captain Shirley Turner "and Lieu- tenant Jessie Gunter. Prior to the girls receiving their guests Mrs. Erma Welts presented them with a spray of red and white Carnations and Mums. A reception was given by their parents Mr. and Mrs. James Marlow,. Stewart, has directed that a study be made of the organization and administration of the Ministry with special emphasis on the suitability of its existing programs, policies and :services to meet the needs of Ontario agriculture. In order that individuals and organizationsg might be able to express their opinions or make suggestions in this regard, a series of public meeting have been arranged. They will be held at central points throught the province.
