20 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Feb. 21st, 1973 VILLAGE | H CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Jennifer Sim- monds of R. R. No. 1, Port Perry. Jennifer received First Class Honors in her Grade II Piano Examination of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto at the recent winter session. She will play at the Prize Recital of First Class Honor stu- dents, of the Ontario Regis- tered Music Teachers Association in March - held at the McLaughlin library in Oshawa. Jennifer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Simmonds, and is a piano student of Marie Taylor. The euchre held at the Oddfellows Hall on Saturday evening was again a success when 18 tables were played. The winners were ladies high, Anne Manns, second, Dorothy McDiarmid, low Hilda Wallace. Mens high, Freeman McCullough, sec- ond, Frank Taylor low, Hugo Bradley. Every March Princess Margaret Hospital holds an Open House for anyone interested. This was sched- uled again for March 11 of this year, but due to the elevator strike it has had to be cancelled. Maybelle Rebekah Lodge medmbers held a very successful luncheon on Wed- nesday of last week and realized approximately $145.00. Another one is being planned in the near future. The sixth annual 101 Clubs final function of the year was and EWS attended by some 80 persons who all enjoyed an excellent roast beef dinner. The high- lights of the evening was naturally the many draws that went to a number of lucky winners. The © 101 chairman Mr. Don Carnegie presided over the evenings activitgies. Kotton Kittens 4-H Club The meeting was opened with the 4H pledge. The first meeting was at the Oster- loo's house on February 1st. Election of officers: "Vice President Karen Davidson; Secretary Connie Sutherland; Treasurer Mar- gret Wanikoff, The next meeting was at Manchester Church on Feb. 16. We discussed the planning of a dress, the colour flattery and the becoming lines. We also discussed Achievement Day and our exhibit "Good 'lines for a different figures" The second meeting was opened with the 4H pledge. Connie read the minutes of the last meeting. The roll call was. "What to look for in President Shelly Williams; . the«fabric'." The "answers & contained everything in the discussion. We also chose a name for the club (Kotton Kittens). We discussed choosing a pattern and the pattern alterations. Mrs. Kingstone handed out cotton samples She also demonstrated pre: paring the cloth for pinning the pattern on and cutting out the pattern. By Laura Ruesink Seagrave 4-H * We held our 3rd meeting on February the 14th at 7:00 at Seagrave United Church and opened the meeting with the, 4H pledge. The roll call was "How did you alter your pattern". This "was answered by everyone. Collection was taken up and then we discussed the use of a pattern. Demonstration was altering a shoulder pattern. The group work was cutting, marking our pat- terns.
