eae Seniors '73 COSSA basketball champs Port Perry High School's basketball team won the Central Ontario Secondary School Association (COSSA) double A senior boys basketball championship March 10. This is the first year Port has played in this league. Last year the local boys won the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association champ- ionship. In the first playoff game Port Perry defeated a strong Belleville Quinte team 80 - 72. Belleville tried to physically dominate the game without avail. Port fell behind 10 points in the first quarter due to strong outside shooting by Belleville, but by the half way mark our boys were up two points. Jim Zoet got 18 rebounds in the game. Laurie Naam: got 9 assists and Roland Skinner got 6. Altogether Jim Zoet scored 48 points and Laurie Wil- liams got 25, 24 of them in the first half of the game. CHAMPIONSHIP GAME In the final game Port Perry downed Centennial High School from Belleville 78 - 55. Port was in command from the beginning, but did not really break out until the last quarter. Jim Zoet got 23 rebounds and a total of 49 points, Roland Skinner and Steve Cochrane had 7 assists each. Laurie Williams chalked up 11 points., Throughout the day Roland Skinner, Laurie Williams and Steve Cochrane did an excellent job of bringing the ball up the court and getting it to Port Perry High School's resident giant Jim Zoet. Midgets lead series Grant Menzies Hornets travelled to Lakefield on Wednesday night and were defeated 9 to 2 to even the series at a game apiece.
