The county also recom- mended that Beaverton, Cannington, Brock and Tho- rah form a separate area municipality with one repre- sentative on the regional council. "The increased job oppor- tunities, the superior and ever-increasing facilities in the south along with an Suggests childrens aid be dissolved The Children's Aid Society of Oshawa and Ontario County should be dissolved and its functions transferred to the regional council for the region east of Metro, Ontario County council stated last week. In a brief to the province on regional government, the county roads has increased by over 50 percent and, the county has spent several million dollars out of current funds to improve two major north-south routes and is now constructing a third. The roads, said the brief, provide direct access to the south for persons residing in the central part of the county. The brief also observed that during the last five years, the rate of population growth of the central municipalities exceeded the county growth rate by 13 per cent. The growth for the central municipalities was Brock, 14 per cent; Scott, 24 percent; Thorah, 28 per cent; and Uxbridge, 29 per cent. Because of cars and a good network of county roads, the county was unable to agree with the government's state- ment that in the future, the area north of Uxbridge will be less and less oriented to the urban south, and argued that the opposite was the case. The Township of Scott has been closely associated with the Township of Uxbridge and the Town of Uxbridge for The county contended that the inclusion of Brock, Thorah, Cannington and passed and included in the brief.
