continued Kawartha room in the Bonfire' restaurant. Wishes for happpiness are extended to the young couple and may their life together in their new home in Kingston. be blessed. Mrs. 'Eva Jamieson of Caesarea is visiting with friends in Belleville for a week or so. Mrs. B. Greene also of Caesarea is visiting in Parry Sound for a few days. Mrs. G. Short and Mrs. E. Cox of Toronto are visiting the Bud Trains for a day or two. I feel so good . . . I have no illness to report, that is a blessing. Another spring wedding is in the offing. Miss Linda Collins and Wayne Minshall are caught up in that riotess time prior to a wedding. On April the 28th, our friends and neighbours, Linda and Wayne shall walk that last mile of freedom and shall be as one. All the happiness they so justly deserve is wished for them from their many, many friends. Mrs. G. Heaslip of Nestle- ton, was in Kemptville recently attending the fun- eral of her sister's husband James Fennell. Mrs. Fennell is the former Genivive Ferguson and was educated in Cartwright. At present she is Director of Nurses in the hospital in Keptville. Our deepest sympathy is exten- ded to Mrs. Heaslip and to = H. & R. BLOCK INCOME TAX GREENBANK 985-2416 kerr ------) Mrs. Fennell. On Tuesday, Mrs. Helen Hooey of Peterborough and Mr. Charles Smith of Blackstock were guests of the George Heaslips. The Unrehearsed Rodeo On Monday of last week, my husband asked me if I would like to drive .to Cobourg and visit with our daughter Lynda and her husband Eddie. It was such a springlike day and 1, unsuspecting soul that I am, said "that would be lovely and it will break the monotony," so we went. The Kellers own a farm, four young, spirited horses . . plus a small boy. The town of Cobourg owns a spacious, beautiful golf course . . . adjoining the Keller's prop- erty. the small boy owns a huge white rabbit of which he is extremely proud. Jeff went to the barn to procure his rabbit to show Grandma and Grandpa . . . He, in his haste, forgot to close the barn door and the horses escaped. We were indoors sipping a cup of tea and chatting, when a thunderous knock on the kitchen door startled us. Lynda opened the door and a gigantic officer of the law, calmly asked if we knew who owned the horses that were slowly but methodically mutilating the golf course. Do you know that there is nothing in the world (to my knowledge) that can make mature adults sprint through a field of gooey, slimy mud quicker than an immense policeman calmly asking a question like that? (especi- ally when we did know who owned those darn horses and fervently wished that we didn't). ' When we arrived on the scene, those errant horses were gaily frolicking on the spacious, beautiful golf course. Have you ever seen a horse play golf??? They were like Pros, fet-locks covered in mud, prancing around as though they knew what they were doing. The first thought that crossed my mind when Eddie saw his horses was (being a woman) Attention Farmers I wonder if I will look good in black, because the look on his face was murdérous. Poor little Jeff, had long since sought the safety of his bedroom. His Daddy had never spanked him and had no desire to- press his luck. That was good thinking for a little guy. Make Plans for Cubaree At the recent Scouter's Club meeting held in Port Perry, Cartwright was well represented. The following officers attended: Scout Master - Jim Sloane; Cub Masters - Marion Larmer and Walter Welts. Pack Leades > Barbara Welts, Ruby Van Camp and Tony Duivestyn. The Chairman of the afore mentioned Cubaree is W. Welts. Secretary - Mrs. Mary Parliament of Can- nington. Planning for this annual event is time con- suming. It involves costume designing, fittings, driving hither and yon collecting ideas for entertainment and display etc. There are skits that take study and much practice, banners to be made, badges and crests to be sewn on and many other little extras that go into adults and children that so conscientiously and con- sistently help to make the Cubaree something that we of Cartwright are very proud of. I offer a huge vote of thanks and add a warm well done. Several residents of the area attended the Celebra- tion of Joy service, held in the United. Church in Port Perry. Recent visitors of the B. Heaslips of Nestleton were, Mr. and Mrs. W. McKeown and Mr. L. McKeown. Mrs. H. Jackson has informed me that her husband Harley is fine now. That is wonderful as Harley has not been fine for some time. He recently returned from the Toronto Geneal Hospital where he was treated for complications resulting from eye surgery. Vision is such a vitally important part of our very existance. To have it impaired in any way would be disastrous. No wonder Harley feels fine now, and grateful so I would imagine. This morning I saw a robin -- by tonight he will probably be in the deep woods flapping his little wings to keep warm. Yesterday, I had a front row seat as I watched the PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, March 21,1973 - 9 fascinating sight it was. Imagine, people actually prefer to live in cities. The beauteous ballets performed by the Rusians or any other ballet company can not possibly compare with nautre's own ballet com- pany. It is not an infrequent occurence to witness count- less numbers of birds of various species performing out here in the spring. It has THE 'Nestleton, Caesarea and area news a tendency to make a person grateful to be alive. Just Thoughts . . . When searching for truth, look into a man's eyes, for there he cannot hide from you. How trusting the eyes of a tiny child . . . What a pity that we adults at times bring disappointment them.
