There first encounter for 2 games, total goals, was with a strong St. Mary's Club. Opening the scoring at the nine second mark, the Greenshirts went on, to win the first game by a score of 4 - 1. Point getters for Port were Brown, Wilbur and Parker with 3 each. Durward and Burnett with singles. In the second game on Monday the hustling St. Mary's Club held the game toa 2-2tie, thus leaving Port Perry victorious in the round 6 - 3. Scoring for Port in this game were Thompson from Bob Kenny second, was. absent when the picture of the winning rink of the Mitchell Bros. Bonspiel was taken. The game opened slowly with both teams testing one another. Port missed sev- eral good chantes before Bob Young cleared the puck and Cal Cochrane oul hustled the Unionville de- fenceman and put the Gulf boys ahead to stay. Both teams were guilty of sloppy play and if not for excep tional] goal tending the score could have been higher. The second period start ed much the same as the first with Port starting to carry the play. After miss- ing several good chances Jamie McNab scored with assists going to Cal Coch- rane and Bill Jeffrey. Bantams drop Ft. Henry . (to late for publication last week) The Port Perry Beare Motor Bantams opened their best of three all Ontario quarter finals on Wed- nesday, March 7 in Port Perry arena against Fort Henry. The local squad bombed the Fort Henry Team 15 - 0 in this game. Phil Cochrane led the goal scorer with four goals, Gord Scott, John Scott, and Sean Taylor each added a pair. Robert VanCamp, Rick Taylor, Larry Page, Larry Rock-ets win consolation Rock-kets travelled to a tournament in Little Britain Saturday, March 17. The girls lost their first game to Little Britain, but went on to win the consolation trophy. The first game the girls lost 4 - 2, goals came from Chris Vokins and Carol Bond. - : Second game against Toronto Oreo's 2 - 0 goals from Carol Bond, Chris . Vokins. The final game the Rock-kets met Woodville winning it 4 - 2. Carol Bond with a hatrick, single from Chris Vokins. PeeWees lose two games Port Perry Legion Pee- wees lost both games at an Orillia hockey tournament last week. Detroit edged by Port 4 - 3 in overtime and Bramalea swamped our local boys 5 - 2. Port took an early lead in its game with Bramalea, but was uanble to hold on. Bramalea came through with 4 goals in the space of 5 minutes, 20 seconds. Later the teams traded goals to. mark up a 5 - 2 total in Bramalea's favour. Port Perry did better in its game with Detroit. At the end of three periods the teams had battled to a hard hitting 3 - 3 tie. It took Detroit two sudden-death overtime periods to get lucky. The Port legion Peewees play in another tournament at Godrich, Friday. Unionville scored their only goal early in the 3rd period. Both teams again missed many chances. The play-off schedule is as follows: 3rd game in Unionville Thurs... March. 22 4th game in Port Perry Sunday, March 25. 5th game in Port Perry Tuesday, March 27. 6th game in Unionville Thursday, March 29. 7th game in Port Perry Sunday, April 1st. The Grieve's Gulf Juven- iles and the Bantams are the only two teams left in the All Ontario Play-offs and both teams are provid- ing exciting hockey, so let's see the argna filled up to show these loeal town boys that not just a few regular fans are behind them, but the whole town.
