Whatdver a girl's reason for sewing, her objective can only be reached if she knows how to choose materials and styles suitable to her as an individudal and knows pro- per methods of construction and finishing. The project "Cottons May Bé Smart" is designed to help girls in all of these areas. Girls competing for county honours in the fashion program include Shelley Williams of Manchester, Marie Holtby and Karen Smith of Prince Albert and Shirley Short of Seagrave. Among those competing for princial honours are; Kathy Stone of Greenbank, Karen O'Reilly of Prince Albert, Diane Barr of Seagrave and Brenda Pau- dash, Lynn Jeffreys, Debbie Paudash, Sue Marquis and Rosanne Ferren of Myrtle. members and 1 child pre- sent. Bay of Quinte Conference is to be held in Kingsview Church, Oshawa on April 24 'and 25. Next general meeting will be held on May 8. The theme was taken by Gladys" Thompson with a film "Christianity in India'. Plans were made for the Curling Banquet to be held on May 5. The meeting closed with benediction by leader Florence Larmer. Congratulations to Denis McLaughlin who received his Masters' Degree in Animal Nutrition this past week. he has accepted a position as Assistant Tech- nician with Vig Feeds in Calgary. He and Mrs. McLaughlin left on Wednes- day for their home. Best wishes from his home community go with Denis in this new endeavour. Quite a number from this area are in Port Perry Hospital. John Venning, Roy McLaughlin are both pat- ients while Mae Shortridge has returned home after undergong a series of tests. Joan Mott is still with her mother Mrs. John Venning ~~ while recovering from a severe case of pleuresy. Better health is wished for all these folk. Mrs. Tom Horton is at home but under Doctor's care. Mr. and Mrs. David Kyte flew to Boston on Thursday combining business and a holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kyte, Toronto are staying with Karen and Jason in their absence. Several of the university students are home having completed their year -- Janice Crawford, Linda McLaughlin and Brian Lee. Mrs. Peggy Larmer was hostess for the Candace Unit on April 10 at 9:30 a.m. Alma Duff opened the meeting with a poem, ""A Little Bit of Sunshine". Minutes were read and roll call answered with a spring flower. A business period followed. Next meeting to be May 8 held jointly with the other units and Mrs. Pedpath as speaker. Margaret Mountjoy gave a fine Easter devot- ional using a poem called "Faith" and basing her thoughts on John 14, Verse 4.
