Mr. Tom Cook of Thunder Bay spent a few days last week visiting his family in Port Perry. People or Planes are holding a meeting at the St. Lawrence Centre, on Mon- day, April 23rd at 7:30 p.m. A panel group consisting of Mayor David Crombie, Bill McVean of C.F .R.B., Harold Town, Bruce Kidd, Jack Granatstein, and moderator Dr. Charles Godfrey. Wm. Lawrence Evans of the Great West Life Assur- ance Company has been awarded membership for 1973 in the Presidents Club. The President's Club is composed of leading rep- resentatives of the company who, in the past year, have distinguished through out- standing sales accomplish- ment in the conduct of their business. In our correspondent of the week feature about Epsom correspondent Jean Jeffery it was pointed out that Mrs. Jeffery bakes for the Curling Club. Winners of the lucky draws at Ives Florist and Green- houses 'Open House' on the weekend were, Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, R. R. 4, Port Perry, drawn by Mrs. A. England, Whitby, and on Sunday, Mr. Arnold Roach, Manchester, drawn by Mrs. A. Hardsand, Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cawker of Nestleton spent Sunday visiting relatives in Toronto. Saturday visitors at the Cawker farm were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cawker of Man- chester. Friendly Visitors The Friendly Visitors Executive met recently at the home of Mrs. Wozney. Arrangements were made for the activities of the next few months. Several bus trips, a bowling party and films are some of events planned. During the last two months several meetings have been held at the Community Centre, Prince Albert, for craft work, friendship music and enter- tainment. We also spent a lovely afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hartney in Uxbridge where a St. Patrick's party was held. The Volunteers are also arranging a visit with the White Cross Mental Health in Oshawa. A film is to be shown at the McLaughlin Library. The activities of the Friendly Visitors are offered with no cost to the partici- pants. Anyone having a relative or friend they would like to have included in the programs please call Mrs. Hope or Mrs. C. Badour. The friendly association at the meetings is very beneficial to all Donations are always appreciated. Mrs. Egppie Hayes is at home after spending four months in the homes of all six of her children, Margaret and Harold, Ottawa, Helen in Richmond Hill, Bill in Mississauga, Pat in Rexdale and Doug in Calgary, and the last five weeks she visited with two sisters and a brother in London, ontario. and AREA Monday night Bowling League held their banquet on Monday evening at the Spruce Villa Hotel in Whitby . The executive of the league who aranged the banquet and presénted the many trophies to the bowlers are to be congratulated for their time and work, not only for the banquet but also during Bell plans region phone book To Beginning in August, 1973, telephone customers in Dun- barton, Claremont and Ux- bridge exchanges will have their numbers listed in the Port Perry -- Oshawa tele-' phone directory as part of a new concept in telephone books and their distributuion for customers from Oakville to Cobourg. The program calls for three new directories re- placing seven existing books. As well as the Claremont, Dunbarton and Uxbridge _ listings being ingorporated into the Oshawa Directory. The plan is designed to follow as closely as possible the Ontario Government's new regional scheme.
