t 3 ASE Le I 18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 25th, 1973 aL Juvenile series to go 7 On Friday, April 20th, the Grieve's Gulf Juveniles tra- velled to Lambeth for the fifth game of the series. Lambeth jumped into the lead early on a goal by Shore and the first period ended with Lambeth ahead 1 - 0 Lambeth hit early in the second with Parsons and Peterson connecting. Rick Campbell finally got Port on the score board assisted by Rick Prosser. Lucas then scored for Lambeth to round out the scoring for Lambeth. Dave Jackson scored the only goal of the third period and Port Perry finally started to come to life. Port had the pressure on Lambeth after this goal but some cheap calls by the Referees nulified anything Port had going for them at that time. The referee called 15 penalties against Port and 12 for Lambeth. The next game of the series was played Sunday, April 22 in Port and before a, capacity crowd the "Gulf Hurry Team," did just that. The Gulf boys came out hitting and as a result ended up winning the game 4 - 3. After some fine end to end play Varey scored for Lambeth but Bill Jeffrey tied the score assisted by Dave Jackson and Cal Cochrane. Port then jumped into the lead on a fine individual effort by Cochrane as he poked the puck away from the Lambeth player and skated in and beat the Lambeth goalie. Parsons battled back for Lambeth to tie the score once again. The Port boys held firm and Rick Cambell on a wicked shot from the Blue Line beat the Lambeth goalie and the score remained 3 - 2 for Port throughout the second PECHILS %'" MAHOGANY PLYWOOD CEMENT *1.55 4'x 8/ good one side SOLID *6.50 FUEL and LUMBER Phone 985-7951 ELECTRICAL by Jim Rankin ® RESIDENTIAL ® COMMERCIAL e INDUSTRIAL ® Farm Requirements | Division of Ron Rankin & Sons CARPENTRY -PLUMBING - ELECTRICITY Call 985- 7679 Port Perry 2 anol ooo o dd ddd ddd ddd odd SOVOVPIPVIVVVIVIIVIIVIIVIIIVIIIIIVIIIIVIIIEOION SAN ¥ ATUL I XA NABER OHARA RSENS dohbmsndsibu games period. Both teams played well in the second period but neither team could manage to score as both goalies turned in an excellent period. Lambeth came out flying in the third period and in less * than 2 minutes into the second Lambeth tied the score on a goal by Varey. Port never let up though and: at the 10:00 minute mark Gary LeFort, on a great individual put Port ahead 4 - 3 to stay. Gary stick handled his way from. centre ice around the defence and had the goalie at his mercy only to miss the open corner by inches but not giving up Gary gained control of the puck from behind the net and powered his way out to the side and put the puck in under the goalie. Lambeth never let up but Port held on to win the game and set the stage for the seventh game to be played next Sunday at Lambeth at 2:00 p.m. TOP SPORTSMAN Albert Harper was awarded the sportsman- ship trophy at the annual meeting of the Port Perry Curling Club last week. ® Chemicals en EAS TEVEL ss sasssssasvaa i ll Sl bliin .
