On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shultz of Caesarea, 1 wish to express their hearfelt thanks to the Caesarea fire department for being prompt in answering the call on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Shultz is ill in bed and Mr. Shultz has been caring for her. A fire broke out in the house, which may have proven disastrous but for the prompt action of these men. As this is a volunteer service and these members are quite often barely home from work or about to go, among other things I feel that a huge vote of thanks is due them, not only for this Sunday but for the many calls they have responded to in the past. Last summer the Bolan's were sure happy to see them when they decided to burn grass and the wind shifted. Thanks again fellows, from all of us in the area. Leaders of the Cartwright and district Scout movement also deserve a vote of thanks. These men and women dedicate countless hours to the training of our future citizens. Some of the activities are liste here. On April 24 a leaders meeting was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Gould of Caesarea. On April 25 at seven p.m. five of the leaders accompanied seventeen boys to Oshawa for a tour of the Police station. They were . . Mr. W. Welts, Mr. R. Gould, Miss Barbara Welts, Mr. Doug Hudson and Mr. D. Adams. Constable Woods of the police department con- ducted the tour, which was completed in two hours. The children enjoyed a treat of hamburgs and soft drinks at McDonald's. They were quite pleased when Con. Wood stopped to say goodbye to them. The tired group arrived home at ten p.m. April 28, at the annual Leader's appreciation ban- quet, in Orono. The Welts family were pesented with a token of appreciation for the many, many services they render to the Scout move- ment. Mr. Welts is the chairman of the Wells organized Pine Ridge Scouter's Club. The Pine- wood derby is one of the projects of this group. This family performed their duties well in the finals, as they do in everything they undertake for the youth of this and surrounding areas. Keep up the good work neighbours When the youth of the area have completed Scouts, there was nothing they could do to further this much needed training and nothing to fulfill the vacancy that leaving Scouts left. So once again a few people in the Scout movement reorgan- ized the Venture club. The new title is the 1st Cart- wright Venture Company. Mr. fom Wotten is presi- dent.
