'y ' Lee eu 3 the GREG SR EAT RE RREEARREAX NAOT SOREL TRONS Ta Ly Prt aE LSS KR RVR PRS ER FR RA 18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, May 23rd, 1973 | Newtloras: Caesarea and area news Within the last few months a group of area residents have organized a club which is entitled the Liaison Committee. This club con- sists of approximately six- teen members, a chairman, Mr. Gordon Cooledge of Caesarea and a secretary, Mrs. 'Scotty' Barton of Blackstock. Mrs. Barton has informed me that the objective of this group is to intercede between the pa- rents and teachers of grade school students. Just what this implies I am not quite certain. Perhaps at a later date 1 shall have an opportunity to attend one of the meetings and shall be enlightened in this respect. If this club is of benefit to all concerned, then 1 wish the Liaison Committee all the success due them. Get well wishes for this week are extended to the following . . . Mr. Malcolm Emmerson of Nestleton, Mrs. Irene Train and daugh- ter Melody of Caesarea. My advice to Melody who some weeks ago fractured her collar bone and shortly after sprained an ankle and now her wrist is Melody PLEASE be careful dear. I trust that by the time this report is read all will be well again for the above mentioned neigh- bours. A message of our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of the late Mr, Max Fallis who passed away suddenly on Saturday May the 5th. at R. R. No. 1, Blackstock. May God in His infinite mercy comfort the family in this their hour of SOrToOw. On Wednesday, May the 12th Mrs. and Mrs. Neil Lee of Nestleton accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. P. Keeler attended the International Trade show at the industrial bldg. in the C.N.E. grounds, Toronto. Mrs. Lee said that the style in design has not altered to any extent on the seventy four models of snowmobiles. This event -covered a three day period and dealers from area of the U.S.A. and Canada attended. Mother's Day seems an appropriate time for fam- ilies to visit home, and rightfully so. Many families did just that but, I found it most gratifying as we were driving here and there on the 'week-end to see so many cars parked at the home for the aged as well as the senior citizen's homes. Small child- ren accompanied by parents laden with parcels and floral tributes were honouring Mothers and Grandmothers every where. It leaves a person with a warm feeling. There is a death defying squirrel that performs for us cach day. I work on King St. in Oshawa and my desk faces a window which I am finding increasinly difficult to look through. Each day this daring child of nature dodges traffic as he crosses the street in search of food from the snack bar next door. He weaves in and out of danger as though he was indestructable. Everytime he safely reaches the curb, he sits on it and looks at the traffic as though he is thinking Whew !.I made it.A few of us add a whew! of our own. If that little idiot only had the sense to move to this side of ,the street we would all be less nervous and accomplish more work around this office. I read this recently and thought it was quite good . . .the difference between a buzzard and a gossip is . . the bird of prey waits until his victim is dead before he tears them to pieces. "The sympathy of the community is extended to the Jackson family upon the recent loss of an aunt, Miss Katie Gordon of nearby Oakwood. - Leaders of the Cartwright Scouting movement atten- ded the Conference on Saturday in Ajax. The many aspects of Scouting were discussegp to the fullest. Crafts were displayed. An address "was~given by the Provincial Commissioner of the Scout movement. A buffet was served followed by an evening of dancing. . The Caesarea hall is once again a beehive of activity. Many evenings a week the little Brownies practice for their up coming Brownie's night. Many acts, including a pantomine shall delight all who attend. The white elephant sale that is to be held that evening shall be a good chance for us to clean our closets for odds and ends of no use to us and donate them to this sale. This is to be held on June the 12th. Come and see "our Tiny Talent Time." Please watch for our add in the Star the first week in June.
