The Epsom - Utica 'U.C.W. will meet at Utica United church on Tuesday, June 5, at 8:15 p.m. with group 5 in charge. There will be a plant sale. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn MacCannell attended the funeral of Mr. Olsen Mc- Cash of Ajax on Thursday. The MacCannells spent the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Holly of Holland Centre and called on Mr. and Mrs. Jim McLean of Shelbourne and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mac- Cannell. On Thursday evening the - W.M.S. group of the Bethel Assembly of God Church at Ringwood held a miscell- aneous shower in honour of a bride-to-be, Miss Sharon Saunders, in the Sunday School room. Refreshments were served by Mrs. George Shank and the ladies of the group. On Saturday, Sharon's aunt Mrs. Jim McHarg and her daughters Mrs. Garth Jonah and Mrs. Denzil Moore were hostesses at a linen shower for her in Mrs. Moore's home. Mr. Doug Paige, Mr. David Saunders and Brent and Mr. Ronald Saunders, Brenda and Bruce spent Saturday with Mr. IL. Saunders while the ladies attended the shower. Ontario Warden to open Brooklin Fair A multitude of exhibits, competitions and prizes will be among the attractions at the sixty-second annual Brooklin Spring Fair, to be held June 2. Officials in charge of planning the fair expect 2,500 to 3,000 people will "attend the one-day event. A parade will lead off the fair, sponsored by the- Brooklin branch of the Can- adian Legion. A bagpipe 'band from Bowmanville will also take part in the parade, which will wind up at the fair grounds at the Com- munity Park. Over 100 exhibitors are expected to participate in dozens of competitions, in- cluding the Oshawa Equestrian Club Horse Show, the judging of halter classes and heavy and light horses, rabbit exhibits, horse racing and a dog show. For those not special- izing in animal competition, there are sewing, quilting crafts, baking and flower competitions. An admission charge will be collected at the gate.
