This suggestion has just been made by the milk packaging working group of the Solid Waste Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of rep- resentatives from citizen's groups, government agen- cies, and industrial associ- ations; it is currently in- vestigating solutions to this province's solid waste pro- blems. » In this recommendation, the . group stated that, if properly displayed at the dairy case, this would assist the consumer to compare the price of milk products in refillable containers with that of milk products in 'throwaways'. In many cases, the group pointed out, only the gross price of the milk and the container are displayed. "By displaying the net price of the product, they felt that the consumer would be made more aware of the savings available by pur- chasing returnable contai- ners." said Mr. Auld. This recommendation will be presented to the full membership of the Task Force for duscussion and, with its approval, will be included in its overall re- port to the Ministry.
