During the inspection the * boys displayed various tasks such as Boat Rigging, signaling, Standing Gin and as a finicle, a Gym display. Providing the music was the Navy League Cadet Band from Oshawa under the direction of Lt. A.C. Shwa. Following the inspection the parents and guests were entertained back at the Corps. barracks. We, the leaders are enthusiastically looking forward to the summer and all of the planned activities from July 9th to August 17th inclusive. The '73 playgrond leaders, are 16 or over and have had excellent exper- ience in dealing with younger children. They are alSo taking an unofficial course in Playground leadership which has been previously set up for them by the Recreation Office. Besides these very adequate qualifications the leaders are prepared to give you children a fun-filled sum- mer. The leaders are as fol- lows: Miss Janice Crawford (age 19), who has taken required courses for the child study major at Guelph University. Janice has had experience with a Nursery class at church and has had considerable guiding experience. Barbara Durham (age 17) who has had 2 years of past playground experience and also enjoys att and SOFTBALL RESULTS Port Perry Lions Club Bantams defeated Rich- mond Hill 4-3 in Rich- mond Hill on Friday night. Phil Cochrane pitched the win for Port and also hit a home run to lead the club at bat. On Monday night at home Stouffville deated the Lions Club 13-8. Larry Elson rand Phil Cochrane shared the pitching for Port Perry. The IGA Pee Wees lost to Richmond Hill 13-6 on Thursday night. Kevin Walker took the loss for Last Thursday the Legion Squirts travelled to Richmond Hill and came out on the short end of a 4 - 3 score in an exciting well played game. Burnett pitched a fine game for Port fanning 10 batters and also had 3 singles at the plate. Monday the boys travelled to Keswick and everybody brought their batting eye as we trium- phed 13 - 4. Thompson pitched for Port fanning 8 batters. Big hitters in this game were Burnett & Storry with triples & Jeffrey with a double. This team is improving everytime out and would appreicate some much needed fan support. 0.C.B.L. This week the Bush League enjoyed its best baseball yet, but there is better to come in the future. On Tuesday, June 19 the visiting Raglan team de- feated Columbus 4 - 2 while Greenbank suffered its first loss this year in Port Perry in a close 4 - 3 game. The following Thurday saw Port Perry continue its winning ways with a hard fought 2 - 1 victory over Columbus. Greenbank defeated Raglan 12 - 0. On Saturday the 23rd the All Star team evened its play with a 5 - 4 victory over Columbus in a well fought game. Future games find Port Perry at Columbus and Raglan at Greenbank on June 25th and Columbus at Raglan and Port Perry at Greenbank on Tuesday, July 1st. children; and Marion Lay- zelle (age 16) who has also shown a definite interest in children and is an excellent swimmer. I hope to see you either June 28th or 29th at the R.H. Cornish School Entrance. I can also assure you that your child will enjoy a well planned sum- mer programme which will be full of fun and variety. On Saturday the IGA boys took part in the Belle- ville Pee Wee Tournament. They lost out to Belleville in the first game, defeated Stirling in the.second and lost the Consolation final to Scarboro Corvette Park. Kevin Walker, Mark Lee & Bill Owen shared the pitch- ing duties. Steve McIntyre led Port Perry with his bat and in the field. The Squirt House League saw Greenbank defeat Goodwood 26-6 on Monday. The Goodwood boys then defeated the Port Perry "Waffle Whiffers" 18-5. Philip Robinson and Peter Christie shared the pitch- ing for Port Perry. Keith Tremblay led the local boys at bat with 3 hits. .. The VanCamp Juniors are scheduled to play in Ottawa on Saturday, June 30th. They will play a double header with the Canadian Forces team at Uplands Base in Ottawa. This is arranged to give both teams some added competition to prepare for play-offs.
