Vehicles drop oil on the roads and in dry weather the oil accum- ulates. It is flushed off only by a long or heavy rain. In a heavy downpour it may take only about 30 minutes to flush off. A slow, gentle rain may take as long as two hours or more to flush the accumulated oil. A summer rain can be just as hazardous as winter ice. 4-H Junior Holstein Show at C.N.E. The Canadian National Exhibtion, with the co- operation of the Holstein, Friesian Association of Canada, will be holding its second 4-H Junior Holstein Show for any 4-H member over 10 years of age and less than 21 years old at the date of January 1, 1973. Both organizations feel that such a show will create an interest among young people to obtain Holstein females which will serve as a nucleus for purebred herds of the breed. Last year the C.N.E. and Holstein-Friesian Associa- tion held the first such competition. It was so suc- cessful, with 35 entries in the heifer calf class and 29 entries in the showmanship class, that this year's competition will have five sections. The first section will be open to the junior heifer class born January 1, 1973 to February 28, 1973; the second, a heifer class for calves born October 1, 1972, to December 31, 1972; and a third class for calves born July 1, 1972, to September 30th, 1972. The first and second prize winners in the first three sections will then be eligible for a champion and Reserve Champion Heifer Calf class and there will also be a Showmanship Class open to the top show- men from each of the fiirst three classes. The Junior Show will be held separ- ately from the regular Hol- stein show. The date will be Friday, August 31, 1973, at 10:00 a.m. T.
