This sports event has drawn wide attention at a number of fairs and other gather- ings in the district in recent years. This year will be the third year such an event has been staged at the fair and all indications point to a record entry. The first event will be for adults 16 years and up commencing at 1:30 p.m. This will be followed by a junior class in which con- testants must be between the ages of 12 and 15 years. The contestants in this lat- ter contest may be either male or female. Cash prizes for the three top placings will be presented. Last year's champions, John Forbes and Garry Brear, have issued a chal- lenge to contestants from all neighboring towns and cities which should make for keen competition in the senior class alone. Gerry has been involved in log sawing for five years four of which he has been paired with John Forbes.
