At this point, it is expected that upwards of 560 young musicians from ages 8 to 18 from across 'the province will compete in the Festi- val. Categories for compet- ition include Accordian, Spanish Guitar, Steel Guitar, Organ, Percussion and Piano. A twilight meeting of the Durham Holstein Club will be held at the farm of Peter Hoogeveen of Blackstock on July 23. Mr. Henry Landry, special assistant to Real Caouette, visited this area last week and to enlist the services of Bruce Arnold, Seagrave. Mr. Arnold was appointed Public Relations Officer for a Social Credit fund raising dinner planned for Toronto next month. At the Tops Club meeting recently Blanche Dunsmore was queen for the month of June for the most weight lost. Runner up was Amy Hudson. For the month of May Mrs. Ruby ' Petyon was queen with her daughter Debora as runner up. In June the Port Perry Club were guests of the Hampton Tops Club. The Tops Club here meet every Tuesday night at the Muni- cipal Hall, Port Perry. Mrs. Margaret Waite spent the week end at Coustellation Hotel, Toronto as guest of the resident manager of the hotel. Mr. Ernest Zingg, who lives on Scugog Island with his wife and family. The occasion was to celebrate the com- pletion to the hotel. The hotel is now a complete resort and ideal for families or couples. Perfect weather made either of the two pools an ideal place to be. Mrs. Nellie Whitmore, a Port Pery Resident for According to a West German medical magazine reporting the results of life surance studies, the husband who kisses his wife every morning before he leaves for work will probably live five years longer, earn 20 percent to 30 percent more, lose up to 50 percent less time because of , illness, and be involved in fewer automobile accidnts than the husband who doesn't. Quoted by the Ontario Safety League. "Oh goodie! A present...for me?" some years and operated the hospital here was in town recently and called on Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cornish. We goofed up our arith- metic again last week. In the story about the 8 groups of 6 students who will be camping in Poplar Park we said that about 2 dozen boys would take part. Obviously 8 x 6 is 4 dozen, not two. This is not all. The cost figure of $4,000 for tents, etc. really had.-nething do with the article. Our apolo- gies for making those errors. Blackstock homeowners upset with Longmuir An upset delegation of five headed by Mr. Fudge of Meadow Green Estates, Blackstock presented the Cartwright Council with several lists of complains at the regular council meeting on July 3rd. Problems were enumera- ted dealing with improper drainage and unfinished houses. The council was asked by his delegation to take action to compel Mr. Longmuir to complete the houses in Meadow Green Estates and to honour his agreement with individual property owners concerning drainage problems. The motion was moved and caried by the Council that the township issue no more building permits to Mr. Longmuir or Scott-Can Builders until the houses on the Meadow Green Subdiv- ision are satisfactorily completed. The Council discussed the possible terms of an agree- ment between Mr. Ambrose and the Township concern- ing Mr. Ambrose's applica- - tion for a landfill site on the Cartwright - Darlington boundary. Consent must first be given to Mr. Ambrose's application at a public hearing at Black- stock on July 24th at 10:00 a.m. It was decided that Nes- tleton's new subdivision will consist of fifty lots, approximately 20,000 sq. ft. with a centrally located park of 1% acres.
