Mr. and Mrs. Norm Johnstone of Nestleton were pleasantly surprised on Monday of last week, when Norm's brother Blair and wife visited them from Campbelton N.B. The Blair Johnstones were overnight guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Inman and son Kevin have sold their home in Caesarea and taken up residence in Toronto. Their many friends and neighbours wish this nice young couple the very best. Mr. and Mrs. J. Rowett of Caesarea have moved to Blackstock. We wish them contentment in their new home. A sincere get well wish is sent to Mr. W. Fraser of Caesarea who is still a patient in Oshawa General. Mr. Fraser is 91 years of age and in spite of a heart pacer, has been quite spry these past few years. A welcome home from hospital is conveyed to Mrs. Norm Tennyson. Stay well Bernice. The many many friends of Ann Lee wish her the most pleasant of holidays, Ann is going to take a month and camp ete. If ever a girl deserved a holi- day this one does. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gobkes and family are finally settled in their gorg- eous new home just east of Caesarea. Their previous home on 7A highway was lovely but Mrs. Gobkes in- formed me that it was just a little too large for the family needs. The Caesarea girls volleyball team shows much promise. In next weeks issue of the Star, I shall have the names of all the members. For the present I shall convey best wishes for the season to Miss Wanda Cooledge, who is secretary and Linda Fletcher, coach, as well as each player. The team is playing on August the 4th. in Putsey Park, Caesarea, at which time a silver collection shall be taken to purchase material Wet! for the team. The girls play each Monday and Thursday evening. These girls shall be a challenge to any local team that wishes to play against them. Lots of luck girls. We shall see you on August the 4th. Perhaps after that game you shall find some competition. A week-end guest of the Bud Trains of Caesarea, was Emile Fulton Cox of T.V. fame. Mrs. Cox has appeared on such commer- cials as spic and span, the Cadbury chocolate ads and has appared in movies of Dr. Lock, M.D. Mrs. Fulton Cox is apparing in a play in October. Just a thought To live up to the expecta- tions of our children is a fete not too many of us are capable of. For their de- mand of us as adults is quite shattering. Warning to bicycle owners Whitby Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are receiving an unusually high number of reports of bicycle thefts from various parts of the County. If you or your children own a good bicycle, a couple of dollars spent on aTock and a chain might prove to be a good investment. These thefts are occurring to unlocked bicycles left in bicycle racks at swimming pools and park areas. A bike that is locked is a good deter- rant. A thief will not take the time to try and unlock your bike when he can steal the unlocked one next to you with little danger of being noticed. Without looking, would you be able to tell a police officer the serial number of your bike. OPP report During the week of July 9 to 15 Ontario Provincial Po- lice from Whitby report that 17 persons were injured in accidents in the part of southern Ontario county patrolled by the O.P.P. The 51 accidents caused $34,000 damage. During the same week there were 15 thefts, 8 break and enters and 2 cases of assault. Four drivers were found to be impaired and 11 liquor offences were investigated. ves =. It would be nice if we could claim poetic license or something, but the truth is that, as far as the di- rection of this particular river is concerned, we did not know what we were talking about.
