We'll have to wait a year or two for Tina to repeat the performance and I'm sure she will. Thanks to Mrs. Asling and Mrs. Kerry for giving board and bed to our Caravaners. The young folks had a very rousing closing exercises at the church last Friday eve- ning. Thanks also for those who gave lunches or had the girls conducting the Vaca- tion Bible School to their homes for supper or in anyway helped. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Al Christie and Mrs. Jeffery attended Memorial service at the Foster Memorial Temple conducted by Udora Church with Mrs. Beverly Thompson as guest speaker. At the Pastoral Relations Committee Meeting in Ball- antrae on Thursday even- ing, Mr. Barry Bushell of Epsom was elected Chair- man and Mr. Claude Ernstgen Sec. This week Bob Thompson and Sean Boyce will be conducting Bible School at Ballantrae. On Wednesday, Aug. 22, there will be a picnic for the B.U.G.L.E. charge at Mus- selman's Lake More- information later. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans called on her parents one day last week when the family of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Acton met at their home to congratulate their parents on their fifty third wedding anniversary. The two younger Evans boys are taking advantage of a few days between hay- ing and harvest for a few days holiday. Grandma Evans stayed with the family for a few days. Floyd Douglas Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wilson of Sarnia called on his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson for a few days on their return from a camping trip up north. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sanderson were Mr. and Mrs. V. Brown of Claremont and their family Robt. and Mr.. and Mrs. Bucharme and Oshawa. Mr. Bill Keach of Toronto has been with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kerry for a couple of weeks. Mr. Alf Parrott visited Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kerry on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson Scott, Rick and Marlene visited his brother Roy and Mrs. Wilson of Cobden for the weekend. Miss Donna and Linda Chilton have been for holi- days at Pioneer Girls Camp at Walkerton. Donna is now at Crusades Bible Camp at Omemee. family of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wilson attended 'the Lee family reunion at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Leeden, Lake Simcoe. Mrs. Glenn Goslin has had her mother visiting her for a couple of weeks. The Ruhls went to the airport on Friday last week to welcome visitors from Holland. It is nice visitors from Holland and Denmark have had a chance to see a bit of Canada at it's sunny best. Mrs. Lyons entertained several members of her family on Sunday. We were sorry to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Mofatt have moved from the Aslop farm. We wish them much happiness in their new home and would like to welcome the new family to the community. QUEEN STREET --- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, July 18th, 1973 -- 19 Fiddle contest July 27 These two North Amer- can Fiddle Cahmpions will be headliner guests in Bobcaygeon, Ontario at the 4th annual Kawartha Lakes Ontario Open" Fiddle Con- test being held on Friday, July 27th at 7:00 p.m. The programme gets under way at 6:45 p.m. when Harvie Howe from Lindsay, Ontario, backed by His Harvesters, sings his latest hit recording "I Can't Win." During the evening re- nowned banjo player, Russell McElwain from Omemee, will be joined by Frank and Julie Leahy and the Little Leahy Stepdances from Douro. On stage, too, will be Tommy Langley, the noted Lindsay drummer, for a fun-filled evening of something for everyone there. In 1970 eighteeen fiddlers participated; in 1971 there were 40 contestants, and in 1972, 62 fiddlers registered to play. Once again the stage is set in the beautiful spacious Community Centre. Rudy Meeks from Orillia was 3rd in the Canadian Open at Shelburne, Ontario, in 1971, and that same year won top honours at Bobcay- geon. In 1972 he placed first at Shelburne, and appeared as a guest at Bobcaygeon, and this year he's back again as a guest. He is a very popular young gentle- man! Graham Townsend will be guesting at Bobcaygeon for his 4th consecutive year. What can be said about this young man that hasn't al- ready been said and writ- ten?
