Message from It won't be long until schools open their doors to your children for another year. The summer is reach- ing an end and the Summer Playground Programme has concluded for another year. As I look back over the summer, [I recall children swimming, participating in arts and crafts, enthusias- tically playing together, looking at special visitors, dressing up in many costumes and most impor- tant laughing and smiling and having lots of fun. All of this happenéd at Summer Playground along with many other good times. I feel that the summer months should be filled with fun and excitement for every child. I'm hoping that next year's programme will receive the support that was recived this year and that it will be an even better programme. On Thursday, August 16th the Playground children met at R.H. Cornish School, before their parade and Penny Carnival. The chosen Playgrond Queen was Linda LED THE PARADE. Richard Collins of Nestleton led the parade which opened the 41st Annual Regatta at Caesarea last weekend. Mr. Collins' elaborately harnessed prize winning ponies and the colourful cart were a hit of the parade Saturday morning. fu -To-School R SPECIALS! The two children were presented their crowns Thursday night by Mr. Phil Orde (member of the Recreation Committee), before the parade. The parade was exciting and successful as well as our Penny Carnival at the arena. The Penny Carnival featured a sale of arts and crafts items, a white ele- phant sale, a raffle (on a paining), a jelly bean guess, a monster sideshow, fortune telling, a fish pond, a refreshment stand, a bal- loon sale and 8 other games. We had an excellent turnout and the profit which was made will be used for next year's programme. I would like to congratu- Playground Director late all of the Playground children on their efforts and also to mention that the Carnival was for the most part, run by 6, 7 and 8 year old Playground children who did a wonderful job. On Friday morning we cleaned up the arena and enjoyed a good-bye party with refreshments at the school. } I would like to thank Marion Lazelle, Barb Durham and Janice Craw- ford for their splendid asistance this summer. In closing, I can honestly say that we had a great summer and I hope that the children of your community may enjoy many more in years to come. Therefore, on the evening of July 14, 1973, the happy couple were greeted by near fifty immediate relatives and close friends who gathered at the home of her sister and brother in-law Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock. During the evening it was noted all bridal attendants were present including the ring bearer. Prior to a sumptuous buffet Mrs. M. Connolly (Barbara) and Mr. Neil Devill presented their parents with numerous gifts and on behalf of the group a blue and silver heart bearing a sum of money for which the silver anniver- WES PLUMBING - sary pair Mary and Laverne responded fittingly.
