All present were warmly welcomed by the hostess. It was indeed a joy to see Mrs. Clarke as active as ever since we visted her a year ago. Vice President Mrs. Frank Whitfield presided and opened the meeting with the Ode and Collect. A cordial welcome was given members and one visitor. Minutes were read and approved and correspon- dence dealt with. The 4-H Club project for Fall will be "Dressing up Vegetables." Miss Alice Dodd and Mrs. Frank Whitfield have consented to be Leaders again this year. As we have more than enough girls for one 4-H Club, a second group in Port Perry will be spon- sored by Honeydale Branch, and we are pleased to have Mrs. Jim Carnochan and Mrs. Murray Durward as the Leaders. The Leaders will take training in Uxbridge Augs. 28th and 29th. (For the information of those interested) Membership in the 4-H Homemaking Clubs is open to all girls and young wo- men between 12 and 26 years of age inclusive. The Port Perry Fair dis- play of 10 items with a "Christmas" theme was discussed and a committee appointed to arrange same, comprising Mrs. C. De Yonge, Mrs. Harold Honey and Mrs. Thos. Bell. For the Uxbridge Fair, 10 items of handmade plastic articles are needed for the display, and the commitee in charge is Mrs. Frank Whitefield, Miss Alice Dodd and Mrs. Thos. Bell. Mrs. Sam Cawker repor- ted on the Bazaar held in June. Articles that had been left over were on display, and almost everything was sold. The Bazaar was a decided success, due to the concentrated effort of the members, and the commit- tee wish to thank one and all for contributions and assistance. A bus trip to the Erland Lee Home, Stoney Creek, is tentatively in the offing for Fall, -- perhaps September will the members please give this matter some thought before the next meeting, so that the busi- ness can be handled quickly. The official opening of the Home was held Aug. 9th with approx. five hun- dred in attendance. After the meeting closed and a hearty vote of thanks was extended to the hostess, a delicious lunch was served. Fun and Fellowship Party A very pleasant interlude in the lives of the Honeydale members took place in July when Miss Audrey Ken ex- tended a warm invitation to spend an afternoon at her home. The weather was beautiful and the ladies turned out in numbers. After a tour of Audrey's lovely old home and her garden with its fine array of flowers, the Ladies assem- bled . on the lawn for a varied and most intresting programme presented by members of the different groups. Later tea, coffee and a delectable lunch was served indoors. } We do thank Audrey for her gracious hospitality, also -- those who assisted with the lunch. Scugog Island W.I. * Members of the Scugog Island W.I. please leave your article for the Port Perry Fair display with Clara Dowson. "Head" ladies please don't forget the two receptions this weekend.
