Mr. Chambers purchased the store from Mr. Dan Madsen, Port Perry 1.G.A. proprietor and resumed ownership August 23. Maustyn McKnight, R. R. No. 2, Uxbridge and a mem- ber of Scott Township will be a candidate for council in the new area of Uxbridge Township, which also includes the Town of Ux- bridge and the Township of Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cook are attending the Fire Chiefs of Ontario Associa- tion Convention in London, Ontario this week. Mr. and Mrs. Art James and family of Ottawa, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Mel James. Mrs. Amy McKinnon, Detroit, Michigan, one time resident of Port Perry and a sister to Mrs. Hazel Wallace and Oscar Beare, retired June 30 as supervisor at Childrens Hospital of Michi- gan. Forty five years of dedicated and devoted ser- vice to children by Mrs. McKinnon began in 1928 when she joined the staff as teaching supervisor. In 1938 she became the clinic ad- ministrator; in 1945, clinic instructor and in 1950 assis- tant supervisor. She had served as supervisor since 1955. Mrs. McKinnon was presented with a diamond wristwatch from the nursing department, and a cheque from the staff doctors. Friends visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Taylor over the week end were, Mr. and Mrs. Dick McAllister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ko, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kawabe all of "Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. David Whitely of Carleton Place.
