Dittburner - Trewin Enniskillen United Church was the setting on Saturday, July 28th, 1973 at 4 o'clock for the marriage of Doreen Erlyne only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Trewin, Enniskillen to Mr. Robert Carson Dittburner youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Dittburner, Haley's Station. Baskets of white gladiolus and yellow daisies formed the setting for the cere- mony. Rev. Lester Bigby was the officiating minister. Mrs. C.R. Chambers, church organist, presided at the organ and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Harold McLaughlin, Blackstock, cousin of the bride, who sang "Wedding Prayer' and the Carpenter's "We've Only Just Begun." Given in mariage by her father, the bride wore a formal length white Swiss Muslin Gown with tiny flocked bows through the material. It was fashioned with a high-waisted bodice, square neckline and long leg of mutton sleeves. A gat- hered three-tier skirt was trimmed with ribbon of white, orange and yellow embroidered daisies. She wore a white wide-brimmed picture hat trimmed with the same ribbon as her dress and carried a sheaf bouquet of long stemmed yellow rosebuds and baby breath. Friends of the bride, Miss Nancy Simpson, Toronto was maid of honour and Miss Jennifer Ferris, Ottawa was bridesmaid. Miss Susan Slemon, Haydon, cousin of the bride was junior bridesmaid. They wore identical formal length gowns of yellow Swiss muslin with high-waisted bodice, square neckline, gathered skirts, short puff sleeves and trimmed with the same ribbon as the bride. They carried sheaf bouquets of long stem white and yellow daisies with baby breath. The bride and senior attendants made their own dresses and Susan's was made by her mother. The bride wore an heir- loom necklace which was worn by her maternal grandmother on her Wedding Day in 1917. Mr. Tom Miller, King- ston, friend of the groom was best man and the ushers were Mr. Donald Trewin, brother of the bride and Mr. Donald Smith, Ottawa, friend of the groom. A buffet super and dance was held at the Lion's Centre, Bowmanville. For the occasion, the bride's mother wore a formal length A-line gown of nylon jersey in a yellow multi-colour flo- ral print. The groom's mother chose a formal length A line gown of sateen in a green floral print. Both wore corsages of yellow rosebuds and white carna- tions. Doreen's going away ensemble was a burgandy with white polka dot three piece pant suit with white accessories. She wore a matching burgandy rosebud corsage. For their wedding trip, they left on a month's camping trip to the West Coast visiting the groom's two sisters and friends in B.C. They are residing at 3052 Heatherington Cres., Otta- wa, Ont. Doreen is a graduate of Centennial College, Scarbo- rough and TorontoTeacher's College and is a Home Economics teacher with the Ottawa-Carlton School Board. Bob is an Electronics - Engineer and works in the Federal Government's Dept. of Energy, Mines and Resources, Canada Centre of Remote Sensing. The community extends sympathy to Mr. Gordon Anderson and family in the passing of his wife Ann. Funeral service was on Fri- day with burial in Bethal cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kil- patrick and children, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bonney and son Richard and Prof. and Mrs. Stephen Vicars all of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Graham. Some of the young chaps in the community may remeber Danny Vicars, a friend of Hugh Grahams who spent some months at the farm a few years ago. He has been in a serious accident out West and will have to spend some months in hospital in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Howsam and children atten- ded the wedding of their nephew Reid Weldon in Markham United church last Saturday. Mrs. M. McLaren, Mrs. R. Cawker, Mrs. R. Tetlow of Scugog Island were recent visitors with Mrs. Myrtle Thomas. The September meeting of the Women's Institute will be held at the home of Mrs. Jean Somerville on Wed., Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. The roll call is - A Cure for wrinkles. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young and daughter Tracy of Cobourg were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Young on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jones of Hamilton spent weekend with the Iansons and attended the 50th wed- ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Brandon in Cannington. Mr.a nd Mrs. Andy David- son of Brooklin visited with the Roy Leasks on the weekend. The community has sur- vived two Fairs in one week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lee were Sunday dinner guests with Mrs. Mary Thomas at Blackwater. Miss Kathy Macklin of Clinton has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Raines. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mount spent the weekend at Stoney Lake with Mr. and Mrs. John Paxton at their cottage. Gayle Blakely, Karen Davidson and Shelley Williams were chosen by the 4H clubs to represent their units in Ontario County at a seminar along with 175 other 4H girls on August 22 to 24 in Toronto. They stayed at the Margaret Addison residence of the University and atten- ded fashion counselling by Simplicity, the Consumers Gas building and two afternoons at the C.N.E. The local 4H units will be soon starting their fall pro- gram and the leaders Mrs. Couperthwaite and Mrs. Dempsey will be glad to hear from girls 12 years and over who will be taking the fall work. There are a few changes in the school at Greenbank. The Kindergarten has been transferred to Epsom so of the new Township of Scugog there is an overall decrease in enrolment. But in the grades one to six inclusive there is an increase of ten with a total enrolment to date "of 147. Each teacher has two grades to teach and are as follows. Mrs. Stone teaches grades 1 and 2.
