22 - PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, Sept. 26th, 1973 10 administrative jobs open in new Durham Region The office of Durham regional chairman, Walter Beath, has invited applica- tions for 10 administrative positions in the regional government structure. The most important position being advertised is for the position of chief administrative officer for the region. This person will be the regional council's chief advisor and all other regional department heads will work in conjunction with this office. There are five positions as commissioners of various regional departments being VOTE Asselstine Area Councillor advertised. The finance commission will determine capital re- quirements within the region's domain and super- vise all accounting fun- ctions. The social services head will plan and administer a full range of social service programs for the region. The management of the regional roads network will be the duty of the roads and transportation commiss- ioner. TRANSFER DUTIES The transferring of many works' responsibilities from the municipalities within the region, will necessitate the works commissioner's man- agement and operation of all sanitary sewerage, disposal and some storm sewer systems. The planning and develop- ment commissioner will be responsible for the direction VOTE COUNCILLOR PORT PERRY SHE'S THOUGHT ABOUT THE ISSUES. and preparation of planning operations for other regional departments. A personnel manager, as advertised, will develop a personnel program and be able to assist in the nego- tiation and administration of union agreements. The regional clerk will be responsible for the mainten- ance of all legal documents pertaining to the regional council as well as taking of council minutes at meetings. The position of solicitor is being advertised as well. A candidate with municipal experience is being sought. Applications for all these positions will be reviewed by the regional council after Oct. 16. The final position to be filled, that of Chief of Police, will be studied after Nov. 1, when the regional police commission will have been appointed. Neil and Donna had really hoped for a daughter and grandfather Bert wanted a birthday present so now everyone is happy. Amy Lunn arrived on Wednesday. The week's social event was the 'Luncheon is Served" affair sponsored by Unit 2, U.C.W. This meal was supplied by a group of food manufacturers as an advertising project. Every- thing served could be classed as a convenience food and the ladies apparently enjoyed it. The one gentleman present seemed to be satisfied too. At the draw about half the women received packages of something or other. Mr. and Mrs. L. Third spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor and Patsy at their cottage on Lake Kashagawigamog. On Wednesday the Thirds en- tertained Mrs. Della Spring of Richvale and Mr. Nathan Hicks of Picton for supper. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter Nursing Home (continued Samells. The ladies were Mrs. Truckle, Mrs. Pearcey. We all enjoy the game it passes away a pleasant hour. We only had three absen- tees. The weather being bad, they were Mr. G. Christie, Mr. J. Doupe and Mrs. Pearsey who visited either "friends or relatives. They all returned by evening. SCUGOG AREA COUNCIL MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 were back to Scarborough again on Sunday. This time they attended a surprise retirement party for Mr. Murray Richardson at the home of his son Bill. Mrs. Hutcheon and her small daughters spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Taylor of Goodwood. By the time this is in print Mrs. Cora Moase of Toronto will have arrived for a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. Keen and Brian. Sunday was another big day for the Wanamakers. Donna and baby got home safely. Bill and Sharon of Toronto,Ron, Leona and family of Oshawa and Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of Port Perry were dinner guests at B.L.'s. On Monday evening Mrs. ®*Edith = Bruce, Miss Laura Mark and Miss Marjorie Bruce helped finish off what was left over. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rodd, Mr. and Mrs. John Foster and Annette were Sunday dinner guests of the Don Beacocks. The RELIABLE PLUMBING & HEATING Beacocks enjoyed attending a dinner party in Port Perry on Saturday evening in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beacocks wedding anniversary. Unit 1, U.C.W. met at the Kennedy home to plan their October meeting. The church service in charge of the U.C.W. was quite successful. Members taking part were Mrs. Beacock, Mrs. Barr, Mrs. Boe and Mrs. Sturman with music by Mrs. Abraham and Mrs. Tobin. The guest speaker was home grown. Glenn Wanamaker who when it comes to speaking isn't any disgrace to Seagrave. We can remember the birthday at S.S, this week.
