" Seagrave and area news Another election is over (not a very popular one among township residents). The two gentlemen at Sea- grave booth didn't seem overworked. . Church anniversary services on Sunday were quite successful in every way. The attendance was pretty good, the speaker was interesting, the "Evans Sisters" were fine singers and the Thank-offering about as usual. These services always attract quite a few friends and relatives. The speaker, Rev. Milton Sanderson, brought his wife, his son Roy and Mrs. E. Kay with him from Toronto and found quite a few others in the congregation. These in- cluded Mr. and Mrs. Adam Sharpe of Enniskillen. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wanamaker and family from Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wana- maker from Port Perry. They had a big re-union during Sunday dinner at the Bert Wanamakers. Mrs. Reta Boe had her share of company too. Mr. and Mrs. Don Boe from Bowmanville attended service and spent the rest of the day with her. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Boe from Bea- verton arrived a bit later and also Mrs. Fleida Sleep of Midland. In the evening Mrs. Ross Dowson, Mrs. Harry Brown and Miss Kathy Brown from Port Perry happened along. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mark from Toronto were in the village on Sunday after- noon and called at several homes. Over at the Ken Sturmans, they were entertaining Eleanor's parents from Bethahy. ; Mrs. Cora Moase of Toronto is still . visiting among her Moon relatives. The Tobin visitors were as usual Mr. and Mrs. Dane Coxworth and Shane of Uxbridge. On Wednesday Mrs. Tobin and Mrs. Abraham attended another shower for their neice, Miss Bonnie Bridger of Newcastle at the home of Mrs. Barbara Gilkes in Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wilson of Port Perry visited some relatives up Bethal way on Sunday afternoon. We noticed that Misses Donna Bruce and Marilyn McMillan were at their respective home on the weekend. Mrs. Sam Mo Reiles of Oshawa and Mrs. Eva Hunter from Northern Ire- land were dinner guests at the Nodwell home recently. And what were the Don Hunters doing last week? Lots of things. They attended Markham Fair on Saturday anyway. We extend sympathy to Mrs. Geo. Rutherford whose sister passed away last week. And congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fisher. It was another boy (Troy) a brother for Parrish and Sean. The Board of Stewards held a meeting on Sunday evening but failed to agree regarding the annual turkey dinner so shifted the decision - making to the ame KENN (RMBERC KENNELS ge - < ll Where Temperament Counts ~~ CK.C. Now the ladies have been called to meet 'this Wednesday evening (Oct. 3) instead of Oct. 11 as announced in the church bulletin. That is pretty short notice but apparently necessary, if the dinner is to take place the first Wed- nesday in November. The U.C.W. will be serving lunch at Bill Stone's sale on Thursday. The Hi-C group are in action again, minister or no minister, and are canvas- sing the community for a '"'"Take-in" supper on Saturday; Oct. 13. They ask your support. It seems that next Sunday might be a bit special. It is of course Thanksgiving week-end. Then we'll be welcoming our new minister and having Communion service as well at 10:0'clock. After all that S.S. will meet at 11. Induction services for Rev. Roundel will be held at Greenbank on Oct. 10th at 8 p.m. and we are expected to attend. Orde may try again Port Perry Deputy-reeve Phil Orde spent several weeks in hospital just before the election and did not seek a nomination for office. He is the only member of Port Perry's present council who did not run. Mr. Orde says he is not sure what his problem was, in medical terms, but he attributes it to "overwork." He is considered by some to be the hardest working council member. The Deputy reeve says his doctor has suggested that he take it easy for another six weeks, which ruled out any political activity during the campaign which has just ended. "But I might run another year," he told the STAR. WANT ADs) CE My / for young and old Receptions Dances Parties etc. for more information contact PETER'S PLATTERS (J.
