Millar of Peterborough spent the thanksgiving weekend with the Wallace "arlows and the'Harry Van Camps. Quite a number from this area attended the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Duff of Port Perry on Sunday. On Saturday evening and Mrs. Ralph Larmer celebrated their Silver Wed- ding Anniversary. They were feted to a family dinner at Haugen's, Man- chester attended by Mr.and Mrs. Eber Snowden, Courtice, Mr.and Mrs. Harvey Yellowlees and family, Solina, Corp. and Mrs. Ken Strang and family, Ottawa, Mr.and Mrs. Glenn Larmer and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Essery, Mr. John Larmer, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Larmer, Dave and Paul. Following this, a gathering including aunts and uncles was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Larmer. Among the gifts received were pieces of luggage, and a 400 day silver anniversary clock. Lunch included a lovely three tier cake, made and decorated by their niece, Janis 'Yellowlees. Blackstock U.C.W. After a delicious dessert luncheon the afternoon unit of the U.C.W. was opened by the leader, Mrs. Florence Larmer reading a poem, "Thanksgiving Prayer." The Hymn "Love Divine" was sung. The worship by Jean Ferguson was based on 1 Corinthians 13 with a reading following. The roll call was answered "by 13 members. Mr. Larmer read the programme for the Oct. 22 regional meeting to be held in Blackstock. The chair- lady is to be Mrs. Alex Ferris. The dinner will be $1.50 per plate. Audrey Wright had the theme and conducted a dialogue between herself and Jean Adams on "We all need a lift." A letter was read concerning needy followed by a discussion. The meeting closed with prayer by the leader. A fine crowd attended the St. John's Anglican fall supper on Saturday evening and enjoyed the bounteous supper of ham and all the trimmings. On Sunday morning the combined parishes of Port Perry and Blackstock Anglican churches cele- brated Harvest Thanks- giving at Blackstock. This was followed by a pot luck dinner .at the common board. All in all it was a most successful service. At the United Church a fine congregation celebrated Harvest Thanksgiving 1973. The sacrament of Baptism was administered to Kari Anne Mountjoy daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Mount- joy, Dawn Marie Thompson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thompson and Jill Marie daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Van Camp.
