The presentation was made at the Legions annual Sportsman Dinner and Dance, last Saturday. The Award is presented each year to an organization, service club or sponsor who has contributed to minor softball in a given area. The award has been presented to service clubs in Sarnia, Simcoe, North York, Cobourg and Norwood. Branch 419 was one of the first organization's to support the minor softball when it was organized in Port Perry in 1962. 4-H Championship well attended A well attended and highly successful Ontario County 4-H Championship Show was held on Friday evening, September 14th, 1973, in conjunction with Beaverton Fair. The top five calves, within their respective classes, from each County 4-H Calf Club Achieve- ment Day, took part in a Livestock Championship Show, while the 4-H Field Crops Club Achievement Day, toek part in a Field Crops Championship Show. Sixty-three calves took part in the livestock section, while - twenty-two exhibits were entered in the field crops section. The excellent quality of the showring, livestock housing. and exhibit facili- ties, greatly enhanced this year's show. The following champions were declared: Dairy Section Champion Holstein Heifer - exhibited by Gail Snodden of the Sunderland 4-H Dairy Calf Club, winner of Orvan Chambers Trophy.
