VILLAGE About 40 residents of the Community Nursing Home on Lilla Street, Port Perry, left this morning for a colour tour of the Lindsay - Minden area. The tour is organized by the local Kinettes and is provided at no cost to resi- dents of the home. Sunday guests with Mrs. Dorothea Koch on Thanks- giving week-end were, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Casson, Willowdale, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Casson, Linley and Jullian of Unionville, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gray, Kaley and Sarah of Mississauga, Ian Casson and Ruth Wilson of Toronto. The residents of the new municipality of Scugog in Durham Region might be surprised to find that they're really the residents of Scugg. Who says so. The ministry of treasury, econo- mics and intergovernmental affairs, that's who. In a news release circulated to the press gallery at Queen's Park, there it is in black and white in the list of area municipalities with in the new Durham Region .SCUGG. Has kind of a nice ring to it, don't you think? Louise Patterson Handicraft Guild The Louise Patterson Hanidcraft Guild met at the home of Mrs.. Ben Smith, Prince Albert. The President opened the meeting by all repeating The Lord's Prayer. 23 members and one visitor attended. A bus trip is planned for October. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. - Hutton, Lindsay. Several articles made by the ladies during the summer where shown. An interesting contest closed a very enjoyable meeting. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess and her helpers. Join union they were not entirely happy. . When told that the employees have joined the union Reeve Kenny com- mented, 'Since they have expressed dissatisfaction with us there is nothing wrong with us expressing our dissatisfaction with them." The Reeve pointed out that raincoats have never gone out of style for work- men and wondered if the men should continue to be paid for sitting out a rain. He also wondered if it will "continue to be acceptable to have four of them wander- ing around looking for a water main all day and, he said," I often wonder, when I see them coming up the street at a quarter to eight and I know they were sup- posed to have punched in at 7." If the union agreement drawn up for next January says work begins at 7 then, Kenny warns, it will mean 7, not 7:05.
