Present on the occasion were Mrs. Grace Love, Chairman of the Board and James Van Camp, Administrator. Receiving her 20 "a MRS. E. JEAN GRAY Mrs. Jean Gray, a Regis- tered Nurse graduate from Oshawa General Hospital, was first employed at Community Memorial Hospital on March 27th, 1953, as a part time nurse. She began working full time on october 1st, 1953. She has at one time or another -worked in almost every department in the hospital, including the laboratory. In June, 1955, she was made Assistant Superintendent, a postion she held for 12 years. In June, 1967, she was made Director of Nursing. Mrs. - Grayis responsible for the Nursing Department which has approximately forty-six staff members. MRS. Jean Gray, (next to Mr. Van at the old hospital as a Nurses Aide in 1958. In 1968, she went to work in the Central Supply Room. In July of 1969, she wrote and passed her Registered Nursing Assistant examin- ation. She is presently working in the. Operating Room suite and the Central Service Supply room. Mrs. Gray's picture, along with several others, is contained in the cornerstone of the present hospital. She has been involved in other -de- partments of the hospital such as X-Ray and 'Obste- trics. When the old 'hospital'acquired a laundry, she worked first on a part time basis. Then, on March 1st, 1958, she commenced full time laundry work. she moved with the staff to the new hospital and is one of the staff in the present laundry. Mrs. Basant has processed approximately half a million pounds of laundry. MRS. HATTIE MOORE Mrs. H. Moore joined the staff of Community Mem- orial Hospital March 1st, 1958, doing general office work. Soon she was doing dictaphone work for the doctors on staff at that time. She is now one member of a two person Medical Records Department staff and handles evening switch- board and reception respon- sibilities as well. It is interesting to note that when Mrs. Moore started work at the hospital, there were three members on the Medical Staff. Presently, there are approximately twenty-five members on the Medical Staff. Manchester News Church service was well attended Sunday. Rev. Brown gave a very inter- esting sermon. Service next Sunday 11:15 a m. Rev. B.R. Pogue in charge. The U.C.W. ladies meet on Thursday, Nov. 1st at 2 p.m. at Alvertta Roberts. Keep in mind the Musical evening being held in the church on Nov. 9th. Tickets available from any U.C.W. member or phone 985-2026. There will be music of interest to both young and old. Appreciation is extended to all that have been work- ing on the redecorating of the church. Pat Kingstone, Irene Lamb and Bernice Dobson attended the Presbyterial meeting at Blackstock on Monday. Mrs. W.J. Mitchell and Mrs. Grant Franklin spent Wednesday in Toronto. A number of ladies from the community attended the Bazaar and Bake Sale at the Catholic Church, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Hitchens of Oshawa were with Mrs. Hitchen's parents Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Mitchell on Sunday. There will, be a public meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 6th at 8 p.m. in Manchester Hall to determine the future of this community centre. All those interested are asked to attend this im- portant meeting. Well, they turned up and we had a very pleasant evening. We were entertained by Mr. Joe Saunders on the violin and Mr. Gordie Beare on. the guitar. They played quite a number of tunes, either solo or duo. oo Then we had Mrs. E. Dowson who accompanied Mr. Saunders and Mr. Beare. Then we had a few songs by a youth named Scot Wilbur. He had rather a sweet voice and he got quite an ovation by the audience. Afterwards we had quite a nice supper of fruit bread and cheese and cups of tea. The Kinnettes own com- edian, Doreen Kendall who was dressed as a clown and kept us all amused with her quips and funny antics. Mr. G. Christie gave .a vote of thanks for-a very pleasant evening. We hope it won't be long before they visit us again. | Nursing Home News | ~ had one the home. We from discharge Mrs. Henders who decided to be on 'her own. We wish her happiness for the future. We had one entry, a Mr. Brawn whom I believe is an uncle of the Rev. Brawn who comes lo give us church service now and again on Tuesday nights. Of course, we had the usual Bingo on Thursday. There were eight winners. It being men's night, the names were Mrs. Trucket, Mrs. Letcher (2) Mrs. Pearcey, and Mrs: Belque. Also Mr. B. Mokoz, Mr. H. Snowden (2) 'Mr. Smith, Mr. N. Samells, and Mr. Abbott. We all had quite a plea- sant hour and enjoyed it. The following patients were absent for a few hours Sunday afternoon. Mrs. E. Tenneyson, Mrs. E. 'Pearcey, Mrs. May Clark, Mrs. A. Truckle, Mr. E. Butt, and Mr. J. Preston all of whom had returned by evening.
