The Kinsmen Club has be- come a growing concern ever since. New Playground Community projects are financed by Kinsmen through fund raising events. The present project is a modern fully equipped play- * ground. Funds have been designated for park equip ment for several months and Kin are anxious to begin. "We intend to make annual donations of equipment to the playground to keep it modern and in good repair," vice-president John Ross said, '"'we are anxious to see this park a reality." KINETTES The wives of the Kinsmen have organized a ladies group called Kinettes. The ladies are involved in all kinds of things. "Kin is a way of life," stated Kinette president Barb Van Haar- lem," even the kids are involved." Barb's daughter says she's proud of being a "Kin-kid." NURSING HOME Kinettes have brought a little sunshine to the folks at the Community Nursing Home. The ladies have been giving "shows"' at the home once a month. "We try to get them some variety," said past president Doreen Kendall, "A little singing, a skit, bingo, some nights we take the kids. The old folks seem to get a kick out of kids, and the kids do too." A Hallowe'en Party was staged October 21. LEAF TOURS "The Kinettes started this idea of a leaf tour last fall," Jeanette Ross told us. "Some of these patients hadn't been outside of the home for three years. They really enjoyed the trip," said Doreen Kendall. The Kinettes all agreed that they enjoy doing vice work. = Baking, babysitting, tours, lotte- ries, suppers are all part of it. HOUSE TOUR Last spring Kinettes organized a house tour in Port Perry. "This area is blessed with beautiful homes all periods," we were told, "the house tour com- mittee is already getting houses for next year's tour." The tour was a big success. Kinettes hope to make it an annual event. WIN PRIZE The Kinette float in last year's Christmas parade won the best float prize for their efforts. Costumes are being made and a float pre- pared for tHe parade coming up.- "Kin kids" love the excitement and take an active part.
