Mr. 'Alfred Jones of New- foundland who made his home at the parsonage when Rev. Mr. Nelson Lé Grow was our minister, paid a fleeting visit to our village Saturday. He and Mr. Frank Kendall of Port Perry called on Mr. and Mrs. Donald Asling. Mr. Jones was with a WANTED New Foundland Hockey team that were playing in Oshawa last week-end. Alf stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Kendall and honoured them by naming his son Kendall, We were sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Marjorie Claughton, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Claughton, sister of Mrs. C. Webster and Mrs. Alexan- der, two brothers, Jack and Alfonza and sister Hilda Kennedy predeceased her. Mr. and Mrs. Al Christie visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thompson on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Ansell of Toronto spent Sunday with Shirley's parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor. Miss Darlene Christie, Miss Peggy Ruhl and Miss Frances Bowles of Toronto spent the week end with their Enoch McKnight were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Munro. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson and family had dinner Sunday with Mrs. Wilfred Simpson, Uxbridge. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wilson and Dawn of Sarnia visited for the week-end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Feasby on Friday. Mrs. Stella Miller has re- turned home after a two week vacation with her daughter in Windsor and also spent some time with her daughter in Ajax. Mrs. Miller is looking forward to visiting relatives in England in May. Mrs. Munro Sr. Birthday On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Munro had a belated birthday party for Mrs. F. Munro. The lowest bid is almost twice the estimate of $27,000 suggested last May. Also in May council received a bid for tearing the old building down for $3,250. A public opinion survey conducted by the STAR last summer indicated abowa 50 - 50 split in public views regarding whether the hall should be restored or torn down and the money used for some other purpose.
