Obituary Wilbert Archer On Wednesday, January 30, 1974 Wilbert Archer of Blackstock passed away at the Community Hospital, Port Perry. Wilbert was born in Minden Township on January 27, 1889, the eldest child of Emmy-Hobden and W.G. Archer. He was in his 86th year. Mr. Archer had been in failing health for two years. On September 8, 1915 the deceased married the former Florence May Vincent in Ingoldsby Metho- dist Church. They farmed in Minden Township until 1927 when they moved to Cart- wright Township. Mr. and Mrs. Archer have lived in Blackstock for the past 28 years. He was a member of the Blackstock United' Church. Mr. Archer is survived by his wife, Florence and two sons, Vincent of Bowman- ville and Elmer of Whitby. He was predeceased by one daughter (Mildred) Mrs. Bert Smith in 1962. Survivors also includé three grand- children (Marilyn) Mrs. Don Fleming, Oshawa, Ronald of Toronto and Jim of Whitby and two great-grand- children, Janice and Pamela Fleming of Oshawa. He is also survived by one brother, Ted of Janetville and one sister, (Rose) Mrs. Stevens of Stouffville. 'He was pre- A deceased by three sisters (Violet) Mrs. Aldred, (Myrtle) Mrs. E. Roberston and (Inez) Mrs. W. Boldt and two brothers Elmo and Vance. The funeral service was conducted on Friday, Febr- uary 1 by his minister, Rev. V.M. Parsons from Me- Dermott-Panabaker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry, Inter- ment was at Union' Cemetery, Cadmus. Pallbearers were Mel Robertson, Jim Dugan and Carl Dugan of Minden, Don Fleming, Oshawa, Morley Cook of Lorneville and Donald Archer of Janet- ville. Floral tributes included CMa NS z N / - Cy Zo Winners at the Senior Citi- zens' Card Party were Ladies' 1st Mrs. Merta Mas- ters, 2nd Miss Hazel English, 3rd Mrs. Mario Heaslip. Men's 1st George Crozier, 2nd Miss Hazel English, 3rd Mrs. R, Wilson. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Wilbert Archer and family on the passing of Mr. Archer on Wednesday. T. Beare of Port Perry. Rev. Barry Pogue offici- ated at the ceremony and Mrs. John Beckett played the wedding music. The bride given in mar- riage by her father wore a A-line gown of white poly- ester crepe under a white velvet hoodecd coat and train trimmed in lace snow flakes and carried pink sweetheart roses and steph- onatis. The brides attendants were her sister, Mrs. Pat Adderley of Scugog; Misses Kay Demera and Debra Lambert, both of Toronto, all alike in Jade green velvet A-line gowns, white fur capes and carried cascades of pink pointsettias and step- honotis. Attending the groom best man Doug Metcalf, ushers Rick and Paul Beare brothers of the grrom; Bob Aldred, brother of the bride; ring bearer Jim Aldred, brother of the bride. The gentlemen were all atired in black crushed vel- vet jackets; green edged white ruffled shirts, black trousers. The reception held at the [.0.0.F. Temple, the bride's mother received the guests wearing a semi-cafton gown of flame chiffon assisted by the groom's mother who wore a long gown of apricot chiffon featuring long full cuffed sleeves. Members of Maybelle Rebekah Lodge No. 348 served a most delicious roast beef dinner. Mr. Calvin Muckle of Toronto was master of cere- monies for the wedding. The bride and groom cut their wedding cake with the dress sword of the bride's grandfather; the late Col. E. Pearson. Following the dinner, the guests were invited to the Port Perry Curling Club and enjoyed dancing to the music of Mr. Ernie McCullough of Toronto. Prior to the wedding the bride was entertained at several showers: A kitchen shower given by Mrs. Archie McMaster of Port Perry. A linen shower in Toronto given by the bridesmaids Misses Debbie Lambert and Kay Demera. A misc. shower in Oshawa co-hostessed by Mrs. Doug Aldred and Mrs. Wm. Broad- bent, aunt of the bride. A misc. shower at the home of Mrs. Milton Demera, Scugog Island, with most of the '"Ramette Ball team," attending of which the bride was a member. Following the wedding rehersal; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Beare Sr. entertained the wedding party in their home.
