*Broomball tournament to be held The 2nd annual Port Perry Broomball Tournament will be held in the local arena on February 16th with games starting at 8 a.m. 8 teams will take part with Cobourg and Peterboro hoping to retain the honours of champions and consola- tion winners. Two Port Perry teams will take part. The Utica team who won the consolation round at the Ontario Championships at Millbrook on January 26 will be a Feb. 16 strong contender. D & R Ski Shop will be the second Port Perry entry as they lost in the third round at Millbrook. . Other teams from Minden, Cavan, Port Hope and Colborne will also take part. Colborne were champions in Millbrook this year. Last year's tournament saw both final games won in overtime so this year entries will be just as strong and promises to provide a lot of action. House U.A.W. and Gulf battled to a 1 - 1 tie. Jamey Lane counted for U.A.W. while David Lee got Gulf's goal. Mark Goreski got a pair to give Emiel's a 2 - 0 win over Kinsmen. Paul Goreski got the shut-out. ATOM Lions Club handed Keith Real Estate a 2 - 1 defeat., Randy Geer and Cam Muir counted for the Lions. Rodger Gould got the only Keith goal. White Feather Farmers downed Lake Scugog Lumber by a 6 - 2 margin. Philip Bower got a hat trick for the farmers with singles going to Scott Wallace, Mark Jeffrey and Sean Fewer. Ken Bright and Brian Michelson notched the Lakers goals. Pee Wee Tripp Construction defeated Frank Real Estate by a score of 2 to one. Gibbons had both goals for the winners while Rob'Scott replied for Frank. Midgets Emmerson 2; Zering 2; Scoring for Emmerson was Connors and Litt. Rahm and Kroonenburg did the scoring forZering. Haines 2; Peels 1; Asselstine and Knight did the scoring for Haines. Fel- stead got the only goal for (Peels. League Club Annrene and Dale Bolton tied 2 all in a close game. Van Weston and Clarke scored for Club Annrene, Carrierre and Leach did Boltons scoring. Bantam Emmerson defeated Zer- ing 3 to 1. Williams with 2 ~ and Carrierre scored for Emmerson. Brad Black got Zerings lone goal. Haines got the best of the Legion in a high scoring game coming out with a 7 to 6 victory. Jeff Lion had a hat trick for the winners. Don Mckee scored 3 for the Legion. The Port Perry boys had a good edge in play in the first two -period out shooting Frankford 30 - 9. The third period saw Frankford taking a slight edge in play out shooting the Flamingo's 12 - 9. Ken David- son played another of his good games for the Port Perry team. The second-game in the series will be played in Frankford on Tuesday night. The third game will be played in Port Perry on Thursday night at 8 o'clock with the fourth game if necessary played in Frank- ford on Saturday night at 7 o'clock and the fifth game played in Port Perry on Sunday night at 8:15. Another successful Ladies Open Bonspiel was held at the Port Perry Curling Club on Saturday, Feb. 2nd, hosted by Ballard Lumber Co. Teams came from East York, Annandale, Brad- ford, Oakwood, Unionville, Avonlea, Curran Hall, Uxbridge, Cannington, Rich- mond Hill and Port Perry. The theme for the day was a Hawaiian Luau, and the club was approximately decorated with fish nets, shells and palm trees, etc. Donna Ballard and Leanne (Ballard) Williamson as Hawaiian girls greeted the ladies as they arrived in the morning and gave them each a colourful lai to wear around their necks. Twenty door prizes were drawn at suppertime, ten going to each draw. These girls each took home their own individual trophy, plus an electric hot casse- role dish. Second prize went to a Port Perry rink with Norma Howsam, skip, Jeanne Good, Sandra Taylor, and Donna Fairman. Third prize was won by Marjorie Scott rink from Uxbridge. Fourth prize was won by Shirley Whitham and her rink from Unionville and fifth prize went to Hoppy Carnwith, Marie Foster, Ruby Smith and Muriel Fisher, a Port Perry rink.
