PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, March 27: 1974 -- 11 I ) ' ! Work Wanted Robert F. Cooke DRYWALL SERVICES Nestleton 986-5196 Scugog Grace ucw The Scugog Grace United Church Women March mee- ting took place at Mrs. Allene Kane's residence with 16 members and 3 guests present. President Madeline Cawker opened the meeting with a poem. Hymn 550 "Abide with me" was sung with Allene Kane at the piano. The Lord's praver was repeated in unison. The devotional was taken by Edna McClaren and Beth Heayn gave a reading on "passages about doors." This was followed by a hymn led by Joan Aldred. Members and guests were delighted to hear a record called "Corpuscles and coins' and "Sharing the World." The record was played by Dr. McClure and concerned church work and helping others. The devotional was closed with a prayer by Edna McClaren after Yvonne Appleton read a piece titled "Bob McClaren in Borneo." Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Heidi Kreig pre- sented the treasurer's report and Allene Kane the hospital report while Edna McClaren read out the visiting report. Madeline Cawker repor- ted on the Elders' meeting held at the Port Perry United Church. She also reported on work being done in the township hall. Collene Windgrove moved that $25. be donated to the Vizely family. Her motion was seconded by Elsie Pogue. Heidi Kreig's motion to go ahead and buy a carpet for the church chancel was sec- onded by Edna McClaren. Corrospondence was read, regarding a preshyterial meeting at Northminister United Church on April 3. The collection was taken, hymn 401 "Onward Christian soldiers" was sung and the benediction re- peated to wind up the meeting. ; Later an interesting report on drugs was read oul by Mrs. Collene Wind- grove and a discussion fnol- lowed. Lunch was served and a birthday cake was presented to Mabel Sweet- man with birthday greetings. sek SAR PRINTING Port Perry Star ,
