18 - PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 3rd, 1974 Vin Walker to contest 0.A.S.A. president seat The 52nd annual Ontario Amateur Softball Conven- tion will be held in the Holi- day Inn (Oshawa) April 5 - 7. A gla series of events is planned to keep the dele- gates active during their stay in Oshawa. On Friday evening thre will be a gene- ral meeting between 7 - 9 p.m. followed by the Soft- ball Dance. On Saturday morning a northern break- fast will be held at 10 a.m. A group of 15 will be piped in to the head table by the two Ferguson girls of Raglan. After this event, the annual meeting will be- gin at 1:30 p.m. 34 amend- ments are on the agenda including two from the Port Perry Minor Softball Asso- ciation. The election of off- icers will also take place with Vin Walker of Port Perry contesting the presi- dent's position now held by Tom Sims of Meaford. In 1949, this group of young boys were playing Bantam Softball. This week- end the O.AS A. Convention 1s being held in Oshawa for the second time, twenty five years later. Vin Walker is contesting the position of OASA presi- dent. -Mike Yorkevich of Oshawa will stand for sec- ond vice president, while Keith Fleming of Oshawa will stand for secretary. The election will prove very interesting with all offices being contested. On Saturday evening a wine and cheese party will be held between 7 - 9 p.m. The registration cost for these events is $7.00 per person. The Port Perry group are in charge of the registration desk. On Sunday morning an Umpires Clinic will be held, open to everyone. The Port Perry group will set up the registration desk on Thursday night.
