Munroe Director rT Tas Atoms drop two 3-1 decisions to Stouffville Malmont Farms Atoms were defeated 3 to 0 by Stouffville in the second game of the Zone finals. Malmont took a 1 to 0 lead in the first. period on a goal by Wilbur from Johnson. The boys were able to hang on to this lead until late in the third period when Stouffville tied it up with less than five minutes re- maining. the Stouffville team really caught fire after this tying goal and pumped two more into the net in the final three minutes of play. In the final and deciding game of the series Stouff- ville again defeated Mal- mont by a 3 to 2 score. Following the pattern of the first two games, Malmont drew first blood with Will- jams scoring midway in the second period assisted by Johnson. Stouffville tied it up at 4:13 mark of the third period. Regulations play ended with the score tied 1 to 1. Stouffville just kept coming on in the overtime period as Malmont ran out of legs. On Saturday in the Ux- bridge Optimist Atom Tour- nament Malmont won their first game 4 to 0 against Oshawa Canadians. Sandi- son and Wilbur each scored twice' for Malmont. In the second game against a strong Unionville Club, we had to settle for a 1 to 1 tie at the end of regulation time. Wilbur scored Mal- monts only "goal. Tourna- ment rules gave the win to Unionville who scored the first goal. This wraps up the season for Malmont and although they weren't able to finish up on a winning note they had a very succes- ful season winning 34 games. Ball park named in memory of Joe Fowler Council agreed Monday night to a request from the Port Perry and District Minor Softball Association to name the new ball park the 'Joe Fowler Ball Park'. This request had been pending for the past one year. 4 Another request to allow the Association to book the park for the Girls' team on Wednesday night and the Ballard Int. Men's Team on Tuesday Night, was also accepted by Council. The Association's request to get the low lying areas of the centre field levelled off was accepted in principle and work will begin when the weather is suitable. Council will also find out how much it will cost to replace the existing specta- tor stands before deciding to go in for new ones.
