>. § w v SP og { | | ' - Travell .Hortop among the 17 ladies 'Beryl On Wednesday evening April 10 the "Head" U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Clara Dowson. We were pleased to welcome the guests Mrs. Maudie and Mrs. Helen present. The Devotional was led 'by Clara Dowson, Helen Redman, Reta Reader, Pearce and ' Marie Clark with Easter as the "Theme". Marie's Easter reading was "Thirty Pieces" and Beryl's des- cribed the symbol of eggs through the centuries. The roll call, What does Easter remind you. of? brought forth a great variety of answers. We received correspon- dence re Camp Quin - Mo - Lac with information about registering and a request for teen-age girls or boys to train as leaders. Anyone considering this please con- tact your U.C.W. president. There were also cards of appreciation from Elsie Angus and Jennifer Pearcg, Beryl gave another serious reading and then Clara con- ducted a contest on Easter time. Each lady composed a telegram for her neighbour using the given letters... Some of them turned out to be very amusing. We enjoyed a tasty lunch of hot cross buns with various spreads. We wish to remind you of the variety program at © "Grace" church this Thurs- day evening. It includes many impersonations of T.V. characters. Then next Wednesday, there is the hot luncheon at "Grace" church served by "Grace" U.C.W. and during Jrom Scugog Island the afternoon and evening the "Head" U.C.W. puts on the Art and Craft show at the Centre school with a lucky draw and lunch. 0 Some paintings and arti- cles may be for sale. Sunday morning being pleasantly bright at Church time. Many people were en- couraged to attend for the special service. We were pleased to see again several new families who attended the hot luncheon two weeks ago. Louise Hope accom- panied her aunt Mrs. Bec- kett with the introductory music while we viewed the beautiful Easter display arranged by Mrs. Edna McLaren. With a colour- ful blue background to en- hance the Easter lilies, white Bible and white can- dles, attention was surely drawn to it. The 22 members of the Junior Choir, accompanied by George Freeman with his guitar and- Mrs. Edna Beckett at the piano, did a fine job in presenting '"The Angel --Rolled the Stone Away," "Feed My Lambs" and '"'Allelujia". We also enjoyed the guitar solo by Tim Pearce. The collection was taken by John Redman, Jim Ashbridge, Wendy Cawker and Janet Reader. We thank all these young people for their contribution to the service. The church calendars were very attrac- tive and we thank 'Rev. Pogue for his extra work in having them printed and enclosing a message for people to take home. Rev. The boy had accidentally done a wrong which had been ob- served by his Grandmother and sister. He had not the courage to admit it so suff- ered blackmail by his sister and torment in his own mind until he could stand it no longer. Finally he con- fessed to his grandmother who had also quietly suffe- red waiting for him to get the courage to make a decision. This was com- pared to God and all children. With. the adults Rev. Pogue reviewed the beauty of nature on this lovely Easter morn and concluding that life can be beautiful but for many also it can be terrible. It seems there are times when our body lives yet we are really dead because life has lost its meaning. At this point we try to remember the One . who died is also the One who lives. He will be with us each day of our lives "even at the end. If you noted last week's news, you would notice what happens when a few words are left out and the meaning of Rev. Pogue's message was changed and reverted to himself. Maybe these mistakes or omissions draw more attention to the intended message.
