PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 17th, 1974 -- 21 Skat-a-thon may net $700 for Perry Winkle Fund Four year old Tammy McMillan was among 48 skaters who skated at the arena last Tuesday in the first Skate-a-thon ever held in aid of the Perry Winkle Fund. Tammy was the youngest skater, and won a i 8 Tammy McMillan special prize for her parti- cipation. The object of the skale-a- than was to raise money for the Perry Winkle Fund, which helps with the ex- pense of local skaters who © Bo on to become compet- itive skaters. At press time the exact amount of money was not available, but chairman of the Perry Winkle Fund, Howard Hall told the 'Star' that he anti- cipated about $700 will be realized. This year only the younger members of the club participated, but next year all age groups will be represented. Trophies were awarded to the two skaters raising the largest sum of money. Senior winner, Mary Lou Bourgeois and Junior win- ner, Dawn Fellows. The trophies were donated by Mr. Howard Hall. House League Pee Wee The first day morning Construction and Frank Real Estate go into two periods of overtime. Tripp Construction won its 4 - 2 . Ausman scored three for Tripp and the other goal went to Gribben. Kristenson scored two for Frank. That last item was submitted a week earlier from Seagrave. The hospital news is good news this week. Roy Scott finally arrived home today (Monday). Blair Beacock was discharged on Saturday and Mrs. Third earlier in the week. In the birthday depart- ment we note that Mrs. Clara Sleep had several local callers and also Mr. and Mrs. Melville Sleep of Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Clements from Prince Albert. This must be birthday season. Mrs. Susan Ham- mond 81 years old and Morley Bruce somewhat younger celebrated on Sun- day and Bill Keen had his day on Monday The Carrs had a birth- day party on Sunday too. It was in honour of Bruce's father Mr. Ganton Carr. We hear they served supper to 24 relatives. At home for Easter were Bill and Sharon Wanamaker with B.L. and his wife. Lloyd and Donna Bruce and a friend helped Morley Bruce celebrate. | At Grandpa and Grandma Hunters for the week end were Joe Ellen and Kathy Pollard of Stouffville.
