The Port Perry team finished in second place with 49 points, the first place team topped this score by 23; points. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Jeffery of Oshawa spent the Easter week end with Mr. and Mrs. F.D. Slemmon. Star publisher P. Hvid- sten returned last week from a holiday in his native Norway. The everyday topic of inflation is being dis- cussed a great deal there and the cost of living in Norway is much higher in some instances than here in Canada. Mr. Hvidsten says. He cited a couple of exam- ples such as gasoline and heating oil prices. These commodities are measu- red in liters, but compared with our gallon prices, Nor- wegians must pay about twice as much. Luxury items, tobacco, liquors, etc. are priced even higher. Children's eye test campaign Amblyopia is a big word which means, "Lazy Eye." It occurs in children from three to five years of age. If this condition of the eye is detected between years (3 - 5) it can be helped: but if it isn't detected it could even- tually develop into blind- ness. The Oddfellows and Rebe- kahs have launched an eye test campaign in Oshawa and Port Perry District for children in Kindergarten, Nursery Schools and Day Care Centres. This test is free to all children. We hope to have a clinic for the three and four years olds soon. The Rebekahs are con- ducting the clinics here in Port Perry and District with chairman, Alpha Samells and her committee.
