Nursing Home news Staff, residents join In wedding celebration Well this has been indeed a busy and exciting week. The Nursing Home has been in a -wum of preparations and activity. On Tuesday afternoon the lady residents and staff gave a personal shower to the bride-to-be Elsie Ogden. She received many lovely and useful gifts. Mrs. Edith Byers gave her the good wishes for happiness on behalf of the residents. A lunch was served and an enjoyable time was had by all. On Tuesday evening the Christian Reform Church conducted the service. Mr. Bauma, principal of Emmanuel Christian Day School in Oshawa, led the service and gave the ser- mon. Music was supplied-by the Sunflower Club Singers. Piano solo by B.A. Ulder and a harmonic solo by Mr. Hahn. It was indeed an uplifting service. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Jean Nash showed 3 short movies to 26 of the residents. One was called "Get Wet' a colourful film on the fun in the water, swimming. boating - and water-skiing. Lovely water side views of what summer might be like if it stops raining long enough. The 2nd film was called "Hot Stuff" a humerous approach to fire and all the thoughtless errors mankind makes in the area. The 3rd film was called "Canadians Can Dance." Scenes from Canadian Natio- nal Exhibition Dancers: Thank you Jean for an interesting afternoon. Thursday evening was the usual Bingo conducted by the faithful volunteers Mrs. De Jong and Mrs. McNenly. The winners were Mesdames Letcher, Clarke, Phoenix and Byers. The gentlemen were Mr's Ham- ilton and Brown. During the day Thursday, many of the ladies were busy getting their hair done by our capable hairdresser, Mil- dred Robston. She has a real talent in making her custo- mers look beautiful. especi- ally in preparation for the big wedding on Friday. Friday was a day onto itself. The kitchen staff were frantically making prepara- tions in the line of food. The housekeepers were getting everything in shinny array. "The nursing staff had everyone dressed in their Sunday best. The laundry ladies of course were seeing that everyone's Sunday best was clean and pressed. - The Bridal Suite was pit in order and at 4:30 p.m. the residents gathered in the dining room for a scrump- tious wedding supper.
