The last item on the agenda at the annual meeting of Durham Region Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association was a most informative and interesting panel discussion. Dr. M.B. Gave another year of good service to the public Duetotheincreasein cases of respiratory diseases more attention has been given those suffering from these diseases by Durham Region (Ontario County) Tubercu- losis and Respiratory Disease Association. This, however, does not mean that tuberculosis has been licked and that, this, at one time so dreadful disease is being neglected. Res- piratory cases such as Asthma and Emphesyma are on a steady increase and for thisreason a strong program to fight these diseases is being promoted by the Asso- ciation. This was part of reports presented at the annual me- eting of Durham Region Tuberculosis and Respira- tory Disease Association. (The name was changed at the metting from Ontario County...to Durham Region). Dr. Maurice Pockey in his report from the Medical Advisory Committee said planshave been made to hold a physical conditioning course for adults with asthma and a programme geared to help patients suf- fering from emphesyma. Four physical conditioning 3 pa ih Fa aa courses for asthmatic child- ren have been completed and a fifth just started. These courses are structured to allow children with asthama to help themselves, thus decreasing dependency on others. Nine baby sitters' courses have been sponsored by the TB-RD Association during the past year. They were held in Oshawa, Whitby, Picker- ing and Port Perry. This is not all 'the Associa- tion undertakes in services during the year. On the program for the upcoming year are no-~less than 11 categories to be continued and hopefully improved on. The Association has a very limited staff and therefore depend to a great extent on voluntary help. This help is vital to make a success of the Associations important work, but many more volun teers are needed. Only one source of revenue is available and that is the sale of Christmas Seals. This is a considerable undertak- ing and at that time more volunteers are needed than any other time during the year. ' Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Hiltz oe are co-chairmen and Mr. Hiltz in his report said that last year's total from sale of seals was $54,276. The year before the total was $49,402. The number of contributors were 15,486 last year and volunteer hours contributed were 2,065. Elected president for 1974- 75 was Mrs. A. Jewell, Past president is G. T. Association following her election to the position of Port Perry High School's musical year reaches its climax on Wednesday, May 29 with the presentation of "Summer Breeze" the annual Music Night. The music night features the Port High Concert Band this year playing music from "The Sting," from the rock musical "Godspell," from 2001 A Space Odyssey," from and more. The Port High Choir will have a nostalgic look at music of the fifties and the Port High Girls Ensemble will perfor the numbers they ate going to sing on the "Durham Music Tour."
