Winning the Peter's Platters trophy for Sunday Epsom The regular Community Euchre was held Friday evening winners were: Ist prize Dora Geer, Yoeman Luke: 2nd Prize Dorothy McDarmid, Jennie Watson; 3rd prize Erna Watson, Freeman McCulloch; Low Vera Kennedy, Jack Hill. Port Perry Karate students receive belts Five Karate students from Port Perry received their yellow belts at Ryerson College in Toronto Thurs- day. They are Karen Taylor, Fred Walker, Doug Luke, John Kent and Donna Swain. The five are Karate stu- dents at the Mesi Shitoryu Karate Club in Port Perry. Their instructor is Barry Naulls of Port Perry who has a brown belt in this particu- lar school of Karate and a black belt in another. Barry is a Materials Handling Salesman who teaches as well as learns Karate at Ryerson. There are 9 possible posi- tions a person can achieve in Karate. These are a white A. Port Perry Jrs. open season VanCamp Construction Jrs. opened their 1974 season last night (Tuesday) but because of early press time a write up. of this game will' appear in next-week's paper. The team has completed its workouts and the fifteen ball players are now eager to get into action. Theteam has new red and white uniforms to open the season, and the coaches are predicting a "hustling" ball team with plenty of hard hitting at the plate. It is hoped a complete schedule wil be in the "Star" next week, but until then hére isa list of the opening games. Tuesday, May 21, Marks- ham at VanCamp Jrs. Ontario County Bush League in third year The Ontario County Bush League is back for its third year of operation. The four teams of last season, Colum- bus, Greenbank, Port Perry, and Raglan, will be joined by two others, one from Nestle- ton and. the other from the employees of Bell Telephone. All games will be played at 7 o'clock on Tuesday and Thursday nights with the exception of those that are postponed. Greenbank's home night is Tuesdays and the Port Perry - Stone Real Estate team will play Thursday nights at the old diamond on the lakefront. Results and future games and events will be announced in this column, The season opens on May 28 with Columbus at Green- bank, Stone Real Estate at Raglan, and Bell at Nestle- ton. On May 30th Greenbank is at Raglan, Nestleton at Port Perry, and Columbus at Bell. It should be noted that as yet the Bell team does not have a home diamond although isis trying to get one in north Oshawa. If this fails the game may be played at Columbus. The week previous to this contains some pre-season, exhibition games with Nestléton at Greenbank and Bdll at Port Perry on the 23rd oJ as Raglan at Port on Sunday the 26th for a 20'clock game.
