Jim Spieds was the losing pitcher for Whitby. The big story of the past week has to be the outstand- ing pitching of Rollie Skinner who made his first start of the year in Aurora, and pitched a 5 hit, eleven inning shut out of the strong inter- mediate team. This game was a real pitchers battle between Skinner and Clare Lavender Local boy to compete in N.A. Glen has also won the out- standing student award for his sportsmanship and consideration for fellow judo students. Glen says he likes judo "especially the competitons, because it is an individ- ual effort, not a team effort, and win or lose, it teaches you respect for your opponent." His instructors Don Watson and Bill Gribben of the Kiichi Sai Judo Club in Oshawa say Glen is a keen student and a true asset to the club. The two teams had battled through ten scoreless frames before Neil McLaughlin dropped a good bunt and circled the bases as the catcher threw the ball into deep right field. Brent Heard then added an infield singles and was sacrificed to second by Grant McLaughlin and scored on Rick Campbell's . second hit of the game. This was another good team effort as the team played excellent ball in the field and made several out- standing plays to save the shut out vistory.
