On Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Roy Turner and Miss Lerie Turner. attended the Graduation ceremonies of the Durham College held at the Civic Auditorium in Oshawa when Miss Janet Turner graduated as a Legal Secretary. Janet is presently employed with Scott and Armer in Lindsay. Congra- On Sunday morning approximately one hundred members of the congrega- tions of the Church of the Ascension, Port Perry and St. John's Anglican Church, Blackstock attended their annual Rogation Service at the lovely farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Edgerton. During the impressive out- doors service on a beautiful Sunday morning, Rev. R.C. soil, the animals (a pony and a calf were actually present) and machinery used in the vital production of food. After the service, the congre- gation held a sumptuous pot luck dinner in the Parish Hall where a time of fine fellowship was enjoyed. Quite a number from here attended the annual Brooklin Fair on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly afternoon callers of Mr. Lloyd Byan, Millbrook. A warm welcome is exten- ded to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Norton and family who have recently moved into the former Frank Vleiger home. Last Thursday Clifford Johnston of Winnipeg Uni- versity, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Johnston arrived at his grandmother's home which he identified by seeing his through the window. After a visit with Mrs. J.A. Johnston he proceeded on to Ottawa where he will begin a job. Wednesday visitors of Mrs. J.A. Johnston was her sister Mr. and Mrs. Milliard Fallis of Oakville. Thursday callers were Mr. and Mrs. Everrett Sander- son and his sister Mrs. Higgins and Sunday callers of Mrs. Johnston were Mr. were Sunday visitors of Mrs. 0. Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Porter and family. In spite of the lovely spring weather we have now, there are a lot of our residents on the sick list. Mrs. Marilyn Bailey and Mrs. Edith McLaughlin have both re- turned from hospital. Mrs. Roy Taylor is undergoing major hip surgery this morn- ing (Monday) in Centenary Hospital, Scarborough. In Oshawa Hospital are Mrs. Stanley Malcolm and Mr. Cecil Gibson, while Mr. Gra- hame Fish in in Port Perry. Better health is wished for all of you. Mrs. Lorne Griffen has left Bowmanville Hospital and is now in a Rest Home in Bowmanville. Sympathy is extended. to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dunsmoor and family on the sudden passing of her mother, Mrs. McKechnie. This senior citizen celebra- ted her 91st birthday last Thursday and took ill sud- denly that night. Mrs. Mc- Kechnie was taken to Osha- wa Hospital on Friday where she passed away on Tuesday night. The funeral service was held in Durham on Friday. . The Scugog Shores Hist- orical Society held its execu- tive meeting at the home of Mrs. Harold Martyn last Monday evening. On Thursday evening a bus load attended the nomination meeting of Allan Lawrence as Conservative candidate at Port Hope.
