x ; BA Sidi 3 A i 0 22 PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, June 5th, 1974 » " "Matter of grave importance", Wendy Hutchinson be- came the bride of David Bourgeois in a candlehit ser- vice at the Port Perry United Church on the evening of February 22, 1974. The gro- om himself provided. the processional music for his bride. Accompanied by his guitar, he sang Gordon Lightfoot's 'Beautiful' as Wendy moved down the aisle and joined him in front of the Chancel. The two were join- ed in marriage by the Rev. Robert Brawn. A warm and beautiful sanctuary greeted the guests coming in from a cold Feb- ruary night. The Church was . softly illuminated with can- dles set in evergreen. Prior to the service there was a half hour of quiet piano music played by the grooms brother Jon. Ushers David Jackson and Roland Skinner received the guests. Mean- while, attending the groom, was his cousin Ron Redman. The men in the wedding party were all handsome in their black tuxedos and white frilled shirts. Present to share the young couple's joy were Wendy's mother Mary Hutchinson and David's parents, 1 Hutchinson-Bourgeois Dorothy and Charlie Bourgeois. Because of the unfortunate illness of Wendy's father, Chiff, she was given in marriage by' her uncle, Ross Hutchinson. Wendy was attended by her Matron of Honour, Deb- bie Lawley and her Brides- maids Joan Parrinder and Cathy Hutchinson. They wore long red velvet Pina- fore gowns over white blouses, Red velvet tams and white muffs completed their attire. The bride herself was beautiful in an empire gown of white satin which fell in simple lines and was adorn- ed with a lace bodice and sleeves. This lovely bridal dress was made for Wendy by a friend. It was enhanced by Wendy's red-gold hair which fell naturally, held only by a white velvet rib- bon. She carried a nosegay of babies' breath and red roses. After the simple and mov- ing ceremony conducted by Mr. Brawn, the bride and groom and their guests mov- ed to the church auditorium where they enjoyed a leisur- ely buffet super by candle- light, Wendy and David mov- ed among their friends re- ceiving their Best Wishes. The guest book was attended by Ellen Brown, neice of the bride and Mary Lou, young sister of the groom. Following the wedding supper, the brides family entertained at the legion hall with Disc Jockey Bob Glover a friend of the groom, provi- ding the dance music. While the dance was in progress, Wendy and David and Wendy's mother visited the bride's father, Cliff Hutchin- son in the Oshawa General Hospital.
