Mr. and Mrs. Royal Whil- field of St. Catherines spent'a week with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Degeer and boys. Evervone is pleased that June is much better now following several months of ill health. Mrs. Pete Keuning is re- covering in Toronto Western Hospital following major heart surgery recently. Her many friends will be hoping she will make as speedy a recovery as possible. Mr. Lloyd Wright, Miss Hazel Wright, Mr. Keith Wright both of Oshawa and Mr. Garhet Wright of Port Perry attended the Golden Wedding Annivers- ary of Mr. and Mrs. Eber Wright in Detroit, Michigan last Saturday. Mr. Wilbert Archer ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Archer of Bowman- ville to Minden last Wednes- day to visit relatives in the Minden area. At the United Church on Sunday morning the sacra- ment of infant baptism was conducted when two little girls were baptized. Jennifer Joanne Lee daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee and Donna Virginia Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Price were wel- comed into the church family. Rev. V. Parsons preached a fine sermon en- titled *'Hitting It Rich". Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee joined the church by transfer. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee following the christening of their daughter were Mr.and Mrs. Elmer Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lee and family both of Port Perry, Mrs. Alice Vender Heidi. Mrs. Schryburt and daugh- ter of Ottawa is spending a few days with her son Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schryburt and family. On Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Ivan Thompson and Mrs. Bill Thompson were co-hostesses for a bridal shower held at the home of Mrs. Ivan Thompson in honour of Joanne Carriere fiancee of Bob Swain.after the custo- mary opening of gifts, the bride-to-be thanked the la- dies fittingly. A tasty lunch and social time concluded the pleasant afternoon. The June meeting of the Candace Unit of the U.C.W. was held on June 11 at 9:30 at the home of Mrs. Neil Werry. After the opening poem, Mrs. Phyllis Hamilton dis- played a lovely assort- ment of her craftwork com- menting on her work in a very enjoyable way. After the business period, the meeting closed with the Miz- pah Benediction. . The June O.N.0O. meeting met on Thursday evening at the home of Joan Graham and was attended by 19 members and 1 visitor. Nancy Bryans, president was in the chair for the busi- ness which included a report of 'a very successful recent dance, and the making of plans for the Graduation Banquet next Tuesday even- ing. A representative was chosen to attend the Social Planning Committee for the new municipality of Scugog. Joan Grove and Andrea Weir are a committee to plan an event for the children at Blackstock Fair. Following the meeting the members enjoyed swimming in Joan's indoor pool afterwhich lunch and a social time was enjoved. On Sunday evening a fine crowd attended the Piano and Organ Recital of the pupils of Mrs. Gladys Thom- pson held at the United Blackstock and district "Church. Those pupils taking sen and Jean Adams.
