(July 3rd) Ministry of Health Initiates Major Public Information Program Health Minister Frank S. Miller announced today the launching of a major health information program designed to promote good health practices across Ontario. Part of an overall cam- paign which includes news- paper columns, postage meter slug messages and educatinal resource materials, the program calls for the establishment of Health Information Centre pamphlet racks in doctors' offices, hospital waiting rooms, health units, OHIP offices and other locations throughout the health care svstem. Approximately 10,000 lit- erature racks will be distri- buted across the province during the next few weeks. Participants will be given the opportunity to order quantities of three new pam- phlets each month on a wide selection of subjects such as nursing home care, the im- portance of immunization, how doctors are paid, and ambulance services. The ministry is undertaking this program following the com- pletion of a successful trial run held earlier this year in- volving 200 voluntary partic- ipants. In commenting on the program Mr. Miller said, "It makes plain good sense for the people of this province to look after their health. . » & h 2 = e 0 * | i 5 i! § |
