After attending the fuheral in Bea- verton Mr. and Mrs. Don Boe of Bowmanville spent the remainder of the week with Mrs. Reta Boe. . Visitors remembered Mrs. Clements last week. Mr. and 'Mrs. Jas Michie from Carry- ing Place spent Wednesday with her and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Farrow, Mrs. Jean Perrin and Mr. Bill Morley of Newcastle were the visitors. Mrs. Phyllis Wray was entertaining also. Along with son Allan and Miss Gagnon she had Mrs. M. Lucknow and Mr. and Mrs. P. Luck- now from Scarborough and Mr. and Mrs. John Martino of Willowdale. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Fraser and family were visiting at the usual place this weekend. Another regular is Wayne Wanamaker of Oshawa who is having his annual summer holiday with the grocer and ¢ his wife. Cafik remains Secretary Ontario Riding MP Norman Cafik has been named one of 15 parliamen- tary secretaries to cabinet ministers, to be reappointed Sept. 15 for another year. The announcement came from Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau Friday. REMEMBER Cumming was destroyed by fire. Mr. Cumming operated a turkey farm. The top five prize winners of the Cartwright Agricultur- al Society at the Blackstock Fair were Harold Swain, ® Nestleton, Glenn Larmer, Nestleton, Harry McLaugh- lin, Nestleton, Roy Werry, Burketon, and Lawrence Mc- Laughlin, Nestleton. Kandel of Port Perry, was at the Summer National Championships of the American Contract Bridge League. Miss Beatrice Lea and Mr. Ron King, members of Port Perry Junior Farmers, will represent Ontario County at the Junior Farmers Provin- cial Camp, at Geneva Park. Miss Marilyn McMillan was at home with her mother for a few days last week. On the go again are Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock. They had supper on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock in Prince Albert they and thein boys headed for New Liskeard where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Grant Beacock for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Jones and family are making a trip to the east coast now. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Short have been on a camping trip down Ottawa way along with their old neighbours Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lloyd. As expected Mrs. Gladys Short went west with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Patterson last week. We have 2 hospital patients to remember -- elderly Mrs. Silas Reynolds and young Scott Foster both in Port Perry Hospital. We wish them each a good recovery. Seagrave experienced its storm of the season on Monday afternoon. Gale winds, rain and hail caused a power blackout and did con- siderable damage to trees. Mr. Walter King our mach- inery man has a nice collec- tion of engines which he sometimes exhibits at fairs. Next Sunday he and his engines will be at the museum on Scugog Island and we suppose he would be glad to see his Seagrave cronies there. Still no church services here but some will be inter- ested in the decoration ser- vices at Greenbank and Pleasant Point. This question came up last Wednesday when Council was considering an Execu- tive Committee recommend- ation to approve payment of the Regional Solicitor S.K. Jain's professional dues for various associations, as well as consider setting up a policy regarding the profes- sional dues of other regional employees. Councillors Pilkey and Ross introduced an amend- ment to include payment of union dues while considering the payment of professional fees for regional employees, sparking off a lively debate.
